Melbourne best areas

We are looking to move to Melbourne but would like some advice on which are the best areas to live in. Have seen mixed reports about melbourne itself. We are looking for a family district to bring up our son Harry (9 mnths at moment).
We would also like to be a stones throw from the beach with reputable schools.
Could anybody advise and give an insight into what the areas offer ?

Hi rich and Jules, we are heading to melbourne ourselves in Mornington area which is very nice. The beaches are very nice too. So i have heard the schools aren't bad either. We hope to be there in sept if all goes to plan. Hope this helps you and best of luck on your journey.

Hi! I have just joined this forum, and saw your thread, which is exactly what I have been wanting to find out - best areas in Melbourne. Would you be willing to email the details, or tell me where I could purchase the guide? Thanks :)
