Hi Paul,

Im affraid you cant get a grant to move to australia, however you can get a grant when purchasing your first house - first time home movers grant = $7000.00

Years ago and on a couple of occassions they did a cheap passageway to australia - maybe thats what you have heard about. Which even then wasnt a grant it was just cheap!

It would be nice if we could - being paid to go and live in paradise

Hello Paul

Welcome (belatedly) to Poms in Oz.

There is help with housebuying etc once you get to Oz but almost no free or grant-funded help to help to get you there in the first place.

Not to worry. Just take it one step at a time and I reckon you can do this. I've been reading your earlier posts, so I know that you are a plasterer and that your wife is in catering.

Don't worry about agents - great if you can afford them but not impossible without them. We'll all help. Between us we have a reasonable amount of know-how.

Please speak to me about plastering, my friend. Please see the following links:

Is your occupation in demand? - Workers - Visas & Immigration

A-Z Occupations List - Australian Skills Recognition Information

Can you meet the qualifications/ experience skills-set easily?

One has to be VERY methodical, plodding and painstaking with this visa stuff. Do it step by step. If you can tell me the answer about your skills, we can move to the next step. You may already have done a lot of this but trust me, it doesn't hurt to go over everything six times to make sure that nothing at all has been overlooked.

Best wishes

Gill
