Question Blinking police checks !!

Could anybody help to answer a question about police checks please????

With the help of kp and the littles I have worked out the 2 different forms you can fill in to get your police checks but how long did everybody's take?

The new acpo form for £35 takes only 10 days to come back whereas the original way for the subject access request costs £10 but takes 40 days. Quite a bit in the cost but do we need to get it so much faster? Meds are booked for next 2 weeks and will then be sent off but will the police checks stop the final decision or what? Presume they do but not everybody mentions the police checks on their time lines so not sure if they are essential for final ack for visa and if they do take the 40 days or come back faster?

Help needed plllllllleeeeeeease

Donna

Hi,

You have to have police checks to get the visa. Ours did take pretty much the full 40 days to arrive!

Hi,yes you have to have them to get the visa, and sadly they do take 40 days, but they can be scanned and e-mailed to your c/o,good luck.

Hi again Donna, yes you do need the police checks for the final decision on the visa, but do you have a co already? if not, when you do and they will request them and then you have a time limit to get anything back to them,(including the meds) but you can send them the receipt to show you have applied for them and are waiting.

Hope that helps

Thanks everybody for your help - I would be soooo blind on my own

I don't know if we have a co - would I be told, would I feel it????

Looks like we're best going for the faster option anyway because otherwise (fingers crossed) the meds will be sent at the beginning of March but we'd have to wait until beginning of April to hear back from police checks and send them if we used the 40 day ones and that would definitely hold things up.

So I will get on with filling in the acpo one and will have to wait until next week anyway to send it off because you need a witness for it so I can ask another teacher at school.

Many thanks

Donna

Only the adults (anyone over 16) need to apply for a police clearance.

Also, I would not use the expensive form, the processing time for the £10 police clearances can take up to 40 days but at the moment seems to be taking less time, so if you haven't yet even had a request for the medical and police checks, I would not worry about choosing the slower and cheaper route.

:)

I agree, that's why i asked earlier if you had a case officer, have a look at our time line, both ours came back in a month.
