Completely new

Hi, we're wanting to emigrate to Oz - my hubby is a bricklayer and we went to the emigrate2 show at Liverpool on Saturday. We spoke to lots of different agents and were given different advice/info and are so confused. As we are just at the beginning, we are about to start completing the self-assessment forms which are really confusing - my hubby has just been laid off and has been self-employed, but sub-contracting for the last 2 years, but bricklaying for the last 23 years! We are unsure whether to use an agent for this first process and wonder if you could recommend anyone? I'm not sure if i've posted this on the right page as I am newly registered!!!!

If I was you I would forget about finding any bricklaying jobs in Perth, as they are few and far between at the moment. And if you do find a job be prepared to work 2 days a week.
I would look at the other side of oz for bricklaying work.

hi

i did my vetasses test in bricklaying in july

it's not that bad so don't worry about it to much

there is only basic things to do on the test & you have loads of time to do them in.

as for work in perth i went there last year & have never seen as much

hope this helps

im a bricky myself, i went through the tra route, we used an agent in manchester as we were running out of time(i was 44 when i applied)dead helpfull they were. cost approx 1300 to use them, payable in roughly 400 quid instalments as we went through the whole pain in the arse process. they are called concept australia. prepare yourself for a headwrecking 12 months! were still here at the mo, but not much work around so its looking like i might as well go over in january on my own and my partner jan will follow as soon/if! the house ever sells. if you want any info come back and i will tell you what i know, for what its worth.

Thanks for this - hope you manage to get things sorted. We've just signed up with an agent, so are just starting off with the whole process - not looking forward to all of the paperwork, but it's the only way we'll get there! Good luck if you go over in January.

Hi,

My oh passed the practical test back in July. The test itself is straight forward.

As alot rides on the outcome of the test, I think this causes alot of unnecessary pressure.

We started the process with the paperwork in June this year. My OH is a plumber/gas fitter.
We went with a migration officer based in Manchester. We didnt have to have a trade test, I dont know why unless its because my OH has got all his qualifications. The migration officer is due to lodge our visa application this week. Fingers crossed!!!!
Debbie
