Regarding subclass 175

My partner is New Zealand citizen and he has been working as an accountant for a year in australian. We are going to apply for subclass 175. However, 175 is an offshore visa, we are going to apply within Australian.

Does any one know hong long will it going to take?
Cheers

Hello KFC.

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

I don't know anything about visas for Kiwis but if your OH requires a visa for Oz, have you checked whether or not Condition 8503 has been imposed on it?

It is essential to check this because if Condit1ion 8503 has been imposed, then an application for a subclass 175 visa is likely not to be valid if your OH is on Australian soil at the time when the s/c 175 application is submitted to DIAC. Please see here:

Australian Immigration Fact Sheet 52c. Imposition of Visa Condition 8503 - "No Further Stay"

From what I have read on the forums, on-line applications for s/x 175 visas seem to be taking no more than about 4 months. I gather that there is a paper & post option instead, and I think that takes longer to process.

You may be able to get info on the timelines from timeline Also, I think the British Expats forum now has a section in which people can post their own timelines.

Best wishes

Gill

Hi KFC

your application, if lodged on-line, is likely to take 4 to 6 months. As your wife, the main applicant, will be the holder of a NZ Special Category visa, she does not need to leave Australia to get her visa granted like other 175 applicants would. Also, anyone included in her application, if in Australia when visas are ready for grant, would also not have to leave Australia no matter what type of visa they were on.

Regards
