Hi Derbys

If you are considering buying a franchise in Oz, the only Agent whom I would personally consult abouit the idea - if it were me - is Alan Collett of Go Matilda. I wouldn't go to anyone else because a franchise is a form of Agency. It is not a straightfoward arms' length contract. Australia has its own system of Laew and accounting arrangements (plus taxes) so you really do need somebodyof Alan's calibre and nobody else. If you need an Australian- qualified solicitor to help with the franchise Agreement, Alan would know the right solicitor to refer you to and so forth. You would be foolish to rely on the idea that anything you may know about franchising inthe UK would necessarily hold good in Australian Law.

Alan is a Chartered Accountant in both the UK and in Oz, knows all about business set-ups inOz etc. He is also aRegistered Migration Aget, so he understands the visa-requirements as well as the business requirements involved.

The majority of Agents could tell you a lot about the visa but absolutely nothing about the franchise proposal, and you need help with BOTH aspects of this, I suggest.

You can e-mail Alan or PM him via Poms in Oz. His user name on PIO is Alan Collett. Details here:

Poms In Oz - View Profile: Alan Collett

Or you can e-mail him direct on alan@gomatilda.com. Or you can ring him on the Melnouirne/Geelong numbers in this link:

Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - Contact and Feedback

In addition to Go Matilda, Alan also has an accountancy firm in the UK. Their website iwill probably prove very useful for you. Please see here:

Collett & Co

Best wishes

Gill
