February - Still no Pathway D ?
Hello everyone,
Just a bit of a sigh really......wondering if anyone else is sighing with me ?
Many an agent are probably asking the same question "Is there life after pathway D ?" I really thought there may be some information starting to trickle through by now following September's shock announcement. What will happen to Australia with no locksmiths, Vehicle Trimmers, etc.....there are many trades which have no qualification in this Country. That doesn't mean those people should be thrown on the scrapheap surely ?
Stil waiting, still wondering.

In an effort to stop a few dodgy culprits who allegedly didn't have the skill/experience they claimed to have, the Government seems to have scored a spectacular own goal.
I watch the Go Matilda News columns like a hawk because I am sure that Alan Collett will publish something as soon as there is some movement on the Pathway D business.
I can only update you with a note my colleague Stephen Dickson sent to me earlier today following a telephone conversation he had this morning with TRA:
"I have been told that they are 'close to finalising' their new process. This will be a completely new UAC - not just pathway D. This should accommodate those without formal qualifications in some way. They are hoping to publish this 'in the next few weeks'."
If you would like to know more as soon as we hear it I recommend you consider sending Stephen a brief email (stephen - at - gomatilda - dot - com) with words to the effect, "Please let me know as soon as you hear anything from TRA about the replacement for Skill Pathway D".
And as Gill has said, I will put an article on Go Matilda News as soon as I know anything of substance.
Best regards.

Just to let you know you're not alone in the wait for the Pathway D ........................... but we now see a tiny ray of hope from the replies you got !!!! sigh!!!
Really believe it will all work out in the end though..................................
Hi Barb,
I am sighing too! hubby is a Locksmith and we are really struggling as to what to do about this pathway D crisis. Cannot wait until they do something. Just want to get things moving. My hubby has 10 years experience cannot believe that cannot be enough to get us through. Fingers crossed from what Alan has reported things should look brighter soon.
Good luck
i was lucky i got through just before they closed pathway d about 2 days before so thought id blown it has well i understand how you feel but i always had the impression they were going to change they had to i have read somewhere that from the applications coming from asia 48% were bogus and getting through the system now you must agree that this had to be stopped as you will probably agree they undermine your skill set if they can't do the job when they get there and undermines companys confidence in employing immigrants when so many are useless i know its hardfor you but i'm sure you will fly through the new process when it arrives and get the respect you deserve for your skill and experience i hope it happens soon for you all i know roantreemj you wasn't far behind me with the same skill fingers crossed for where are you intending to head to

Heading for Adelaide. Got some family already there - and my sister going over this May and Brother in Law in June. We planned it together.............only good thing is that they can check out everything and maybe guide us around when we finally land. Hopefully next year..........gotta sell our house first and then looking at being there for June '08!

Thank you for the replies. You are very correct in what you say......they did need to do something to prevent all of the fraudulent immigrants though. In the long term, this sort of unskilled mass rushing into the Country would undermine the structure which we are all hoping to live in.
After all, if Australia were to open up to let anyone in, skilled or unskilled, old and young, no restrictions, any language etc etc.......it would be just like....erm.......England ! lol.
Here's hoping all of the genuine people, like us and you being patient, biding our time and securing our plans in advance will reap the rewards later. My Husband, though recently qualaified as a Gas Engineer, will be looking towards applying under his 7 years experience as a vehicle trimmer (well, more under the specialisation of a vehicle upholsterer - closely watching other threads about specialisations) with a view to updating his Gas qualifications to Australia regs once out there.
Keep waiting, keep smiling.
