Cool Contributory Family Sponsership Visa

Hi everyone. This is my first posting on this board and have loved reading everyone's questions and replies.Everyone is so helpful so I hope someone can help with my queries. My husband emigrated to Oz on the £10 ticket many years ago with his family and married and had a family in Oz. After his divorce he left Oz, met me and we got married. After a visit to Oz last September for a month I fell head over heels in love with Australia and we would now like to emigrate. The problem we have is that my husband never got his citizenship when he lived there and we are both now in our late 50's though very healthy and so we are only able to go over on a Family Sponsership Visa. To save being in a long queue (up to 7 years we were told) we are going to go on a Contributaory Visa. His 4 sons were all born in Oz and are still living there.Has anyone any idea how long it could take to get this vias? Has anyone else gone to Oz on one of these visas?

Hi Missy

Me and Oh are going on a Contributory Parent Visa. We started our application in Feb 07 and got our Case Officer in November 07 who advised us to have our medicals and police checks. Our Daughter who is our Sponsor also had her interview with Centrelink and paid the Assurance of Support Bond in December.

This we did in November and Our Daughter who is our Sponsor also had her interview with Centrelink and paid the Assurance of Support Bond in December then about three weeks our Case Officer was just about to ask us to pay our 2nd VAC payment (the biggy) when a halt has been put on these visas until further notice. I think what has happened is that they have reached their quota much quicker than in past years and the new lot of visas are not available until July 08 which means that although three weeks ago we were on the point of getting our visa, we are not now and will have to wait unless the Immigration and Government allow those of us who were at that late stage, and there are a few of us, to be allowed to pay our 2nd vac and be granted our visa soon or we will have to wait.
Only problem with that is you are advised not to sell your house till you have your visa and we have followed these directions but if we do not get visa now till July it will only give us till mid November to sell it and go to Australia to validate our visa without the extra cost of a validation trip.

With regards to the normal Parent Visa I think you are looking at far more than 7 years for that.
If the government do not up the quota on the CPV there will no doubt be a queueing system put in place for that visa as well.

Hope that is enough info but I am sure that Gill (Gollywobbler) will supply you with further information if I have not covered it all.

Hi Cazbeckham, thank you for your reply but I am gutted to hear of the delay. I thought that by paying such a huge amount there would be no problem or delay. How wrong can you be? Still we will not be put off as we want to follow our dream and hopefully get out there while we are still young enough to start our new life Down Under. We will press on. Please let me know of any developments with your application.

Hi again caz. Have you applied for the same visa as my husband and I? The Temporary Contributory Family Visa? I have asked Australia House in London about these visa applications being put on hold for now and asked when we would be able to put our application in and below is the reply they sent me:-

Dear Client,

Thank you for your enquiry.

I was not aware of a cut off of applications but it is best to contact the Perth Parents processing Centre directly

Please see the information below.

http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/australia/processing-centres/perth-offshore-parents.htm

I have now emailed Perth and am awaiting their reply. I will let you know when they reply. Fingers crossed. You must be so disappointed to have got so near then to have to be put on hold.

Can I ask you....are you intending to work when you get to Oz or are you retiring and going to enjoy the sunshine? :-)

Hello Missymon

It seems like one department doesnt know what the other department is doing. I hope that the POPC reply to you very soon, I will keep checking here to see if you get a reply.
We are going on the 143 which is the ~Permanent Cont Parent Visa.
WE have an internet photography business which we will reset up again once in Oz Beckham Digital

We are both into digital photography in a big way and sell photoshop tutorials on dvd so will continue that in Oz as well as doing lectures to camera clubs.

Hi Caz. Hopefully I will not have to wait too long for their reply...watch this space. Your digital camera business sounds so interesting...good luck with that when you get down there.I am a Marie Curie nurse and have 2 Agency addresses in Oz and I have already made tentative enquires and it would seem I may not have any problem getting work ( in Uk you are considered past it when you hit 50 but my husband and I still have a lot more miles left in us yet!!!)and my husband is an IT consultant and one of his sons is the Accounts Manager for Microsoft in Sydney so is hoping he may be able to help workwise for him. Or he may consider starting his own business. Age is just a number.

Hi Monica

The temporary CP 173 visa has been put on "hold" in teh same was as Caz's application has been.

When did you submit your CP 173 application and what is the lodgement date of it? (This is the date at the top right of the Accknowledgement letter, just befow where they put teh Transaction Referece number.)

I am trying to gauge what stage you have reached with the processing, and the lodgement date is crucial to working this out for you.

Presumably you have not yet been asked to undergo Meds and to produce your police checks?

At the moment we are all waiting (with bated breath) to hear whether or not the new Minister for Immi will increase the current quota of 3,500 CP visas per year. If he does decide to increase the quota, he might make the additional visas available before the end of the 2007/8 Program Year, which eds on 30 June 2008.

If not, then as Caz says at least another 3,500 CP visas will be available from 1 July 2008.

If you can suply some more info, I can supply some more help.

Cheers

Gill
