Capital Investment stopped 5 points short

Hi, does anyone know what is happening with getting 5 points for capital investment that has just been stopped? We put in our application a year and a half ago and was 5 points short so we made it up by agreeing that we would invest some money into an Australian bank for one year. We have been told by our consultant just before Christmas, due to some fraudlent cases they are stopping this, therefore we are now 5 points short again. Our consultant has told us to holdfire and wait and see if the Australian government will change anything as there must be quite a lot of people in the same situation as us, it just seems a bit unfair to change the goal posts after our application has gone in, not to mention the time and the money we have spent.

As anyone any thoughts on this, or knows anymore?

Thanks,

Tracey

Same position!

Hi
We are in exactly the same position as you and are extremely frustrated by the waiting. Our medicals/police checks run out in April and we still have a house to sell. We werent told by our agents(?) and sent the money out, to be told a few days later that they werent doing those bonds anymore. We are getting the money back but it will have cost us about £40 for nothing and we are still no nearer to knowing!
We have had no news as to their new policy/decision but also wanted to vent our frustration

Hi Tim, sorry to hear that you are in the same boat as us. I contacted our consultant again last week to chase and he said it is still with the Minister of Immigration and they are still deciding what to do with people applying in our situation. He seems to think that they will find an alternative solution, to stay positive and hang-fire for the moment, but it's hard when your life is in limbo and your whole future rests in their hands!

We thought that we were going to be in Oz by March this year and we put in our application in July 06, so it seems like a lifetime ago and we just want to start our new life.

If I hear anymore I will keep you posted. Where are you heading in Oz anyway? We are going for the Central Coast possibly Avoca Beach, my brother moved there a year and a half ago and loves it!

You have to blame a few smartie's for this problem. The Aust. Government found out that some of these bank deposits were made with borrowed money which was withdrawn as soon as a visa was issued so they shut it down

Hi Tracey & Tim

There is no further progress as yet, unfortunately. None of the Agents know it was going to happen until the various States suddenly pulled the rugs from under everyone's feet without any real prior warning.

Keep an eye on the News section of the Go Matilda website, which is here:

Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - News

Good luck. I hope it will all resolve itself soon.

Best wishes

Gill

Hi All, just to let you know that there is whole section on the BritExpats.com site regarding this under the immigration forum.

A guy on there is getting together all the unfortunate people (including me! ) that are in this awful situation and is in the process of composing a letter to Chris Evans (The Minister of Immigration) putting forward our plight and frustration and he will include all our names on there. So if you are interested in being part of this, I suggest you take a look at the site and see what you think.

Hopefully the Australia government will come to a decision soon.....please....!!

Hi All

Alan Collett, the boss of Go Matilda, is an authoritative source of information about this topic. I think he started the big "stcky" thread about it on British Expats, didn't he?

Alan has published a new article about it today. Please click on the link below:

Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - News

It is always worth heeping an eye on the Go Matilda News section because Alan is first rate at making sure he publishes anything significant as soon as he knows anything definite.

If you scroll back through the pages of the News section, you will see that Alan has written 2 or 3 articles about this issue.

Best wishes

Gill
