Worried about medicals

My hubby, daughter and I are hoping to migrate to Oz but are worried about our medicals I have Crohnes disease and my hubby is on treatment for an irregular heartbeat (Atrial Fibrilation). Will either of these conditions fail us our medicals? Does anyone know anyone who has migrated with same or similar conditions.

Thanks Lorraine, Colin and Fern

Hi Lorraine, well if it is of any help, i have Crohn's Disease too and had my visa granted last december and am now living in Sydney so you should be fine, are you still having treatment for it or have you been discharged from specialists. I have to wear illeostomy bags for my bowels so i have to pay for all my medical stuff here. If you prefer to pm me then feel free hun i dont mind talking about it as i have had it since i was 17 and i am now 33, mine was very bad but have been mended now thanks to a wonderful surgeon. We had the very same fear that we wouldnt get our visa due to my medical condition but then got the biggest shock when we got the email to say YES!!!!!!. Just make sure you get a copy of all your medical record relating to your crohn's to take to the panel doctor with you as they will need and ask for them and also confirming that you are no longer under a specialist etc but panel doctor will tell you if he/she requires anything else so dont worry. Regarding your hubbies condition i cant comment on as i wouldnt have a clue but if i got through with this then i think anyone can, good luck and like i said feel free to pm me if you prefer with any questions at all. I am very open minded and speak about my condition with no problems. If it help you can read the threads i have done as they will give you an idea of what i was going through with worry all for nothing as they let me in

No probs, well feel absolutely free to ask absolute anything and if i can help i will but i have had 2 major operation as i had 20 mins to live apparently before they operated, i have a total illeostomy when i was 17 i was discharged in approx 1997/98 from the specialist but he said if i ever needed to see him then i wouldnt need to go on the waiting list but touch wood i havent needed to yet, i have had everything removed because it was that bad, even had my bottom stitched up too. So long as you have it under control and that your medication etc doesnt going beyond Australian Government reccommendations then you shouldnt have a problem and the panel Doctor will give you a rough idea of what he/she thinks of your getting in Oz as mine did
