without an agent

Hello, has anybody out there applied for visa's without using an agent ? We have felt relatively confident that everthing will be fine, we have passed the tra so far but we are starting to panic a little because it seems that every message that we read everyone has an agent. Is there anyway we could speed the process up?

Hi Steve & Mandy
The TRA is the worst bit I would have thought if you did that you can do it all unless you have any major complications I have an agent because i am thick other wise i would have had a go myself

Best of luck
Simon

Hi

We aren't using an agent either. WE have just got Geoffs trade assessment under vetassess and are about to apply for visa. We are doing it on line as it is supposed to be quicker that way. I have already filled most of the form in and it was relatively straightforward (except I hadn't realised we had to send full birth certificates and me and Geoff only have the small ones - have to wait to get the copies from the Registry Office). When you apply on line you can download the forms for medicals straightaway and they recommend you do your police checks quick too as they can take up to 40 days to come through (bear in mind they are only valid for a year so you will have to validate your visa within a year of doing police checks)

Good luck with your application, I am sure you will be fine

Tracy

Hi Ian ,Nina & George, Thanks for your post ,Well we have recieved our Tra (that was not a problem) then we applied for a general skilled independant visa (carpentry & joinery) In August 2007,they have taken the money end of November but its just such a drag as i am very impatient. We hope to go to Frankston or Mornington in Melbourne towards the end of september from sunny Bristol if all goes to plan.

Hi Mandy
I would give it a go without an agent. They are being processed alot quicker and as long as you dont mind alot of paper work id go for it. You can always hire an agent just for advice but you have passed the hardest part..Good luck

Hi,

I didn't use an agent and I got a visa. It took 6 months 1 week and 2 days to come through. I printed the forms from the Aussie Gov site and sent them in.

I would find out where you have to get your police checks from and do your meds in the area you live. Also find out how long they take to be done. You didn't say if you are going to send in forms or do you paper work online ? The later saves time. A lot of time ! Can you scan and save into folders ? If so the you could be there quicker than you think. Aussie Gov will be sending emails just asking you to email them what they want from you. Set up an email just for your emails from them any way and give it a go, and all the best.

Agents only want your money, besides from what I've read from on here about them I would trust them to walk a dog!!

I hpoe this helps

Fred
