how long does it take ?

M y names Andy,my partner Michelle (Middleton, Manchester)
Were trying to emigrate on a family sponsored skilled migration visa.
Passed the skilled assessment test, sent the application form off on 2nd oct 2007
Aus acknowledged and banked cheque on 6th oct 2007 but since nothing.
Tried the e mail update but finding it hard to understand/misleading.
Can anyone please give us a clue as to the time scale we will have to wait.

Thanks in advance
Andy /Michelle

Hi there, Dee & Tony ( Prestwich Manchester) only up the road, we are in process at the moment but have been told because of ielts cut off date in September there is a backlog of applications and they are about nine months behind on visas.Hope this isnt true as we were hoping to get out to Perth this year.

ah right,
Just read your post again. You sent your application. I presumed (very wrong of me) that you did it online. As said earlier, it may be some time before you hear. Online applications seem to be handled quicker.

thanks for quick reply

keep reading the feedback from people who submitted applications before new forms cut off time, and theres seemed to quite speedy.Already done police checks they were only twenty pounds, but dont want to do medicals yet, theres me,michelle and three children which will be quite expensive. thanks again for your speedy replies will keep an eye on forum, hope they get back to work in aus and they give them plenty of overtime on these applications.

Hi Andy/Michelle,

We not too far from you!! Heywood!!!!

We staretd the process January 2007 on a skilled 136 visa.

Case officer requested medicals and police checks in October. Medicals were done in November and arrived in Sydney on 17th December and our Police checks are on the way to Adelaide as I type!!!!

Our agent has told us it will be probably 8 to 12 weeks from now before we hear if we have a visa so all in all the process will have taken approx 14 months which is roughly what our agent told us.

Hope this gives you an idea and hope everything goes well for you.

Chelle, Paul, Josh (7) & George (2) Heywood, Greater Manchester:)
