Assurance of Support

Well, yesterday I went to Centrelink in toowong and handed in all the documentation for the AOS for my Mum and Dad (CazBeckham). Now we have roughly 2 weeks to wait to find out if it has been accepted and then we pay them their money!

Easy enough to do everything but the waiting drives you mad! I thought that I was done with all that waiting when I got here!!!! Nope, Mum and Dad are coming too!!!!!!!!

If anyone is going through the CPV route, I am more than happy to answer questions as I know that CazBeckham will be too (Wont you Mum!)

Will keep u updated!

Hi Jo

I know exactly how you feel. By this stage, one is wondering whether the interminable waiting around will ever end.

No worries, though. By this time next year your Parents will be comfortably settled in Oz and you'll be planning your first "proper" Australian Christmas together - the first of many to come.

Shout the minute you get the magic letter authorising you to deposit the Bond, won't you?

Cheers

Gill

well, I had a call from Centrelink today to tell me that they had lost all the documents! They had the application form but nothing else. I now have to go back with all the original docs and go through it all again!

There was me thinking it was going to be easy!

Hi Jo

Naffing annoying. Unless the place burned to the ground at the weekend, they have no excuse whatsoever for losing the paperwork. Especially not when your taxes are paying these cretins.

I TRUST they have said, Come in with the docs again whenever it would be convenient for you, Mrs Hatts." Not this make another appointment rubbish?

I'd take them to the wire now that you've got the moral uper hand. They can post the letter asking you to deposit the bond by all means. BUT THEY CAN ALSO FAX IT TO YOU PRIOR TO POSTING. The Bank will accept the faxed copy, so you may be able to get the Bond lodged pretty quickly. Ring them every day and drum it into their heads that that letter must be signed and then faxed as well as posted.

Cheers

Gill

Hi Jo

I'm delighted to hear that you had time to take the documents to Centrelink again. After this embarrassing-for-them blunder, hopefully they will give you priority processing.

Cheers

Gill
