Thumbs up Encouragement for Contributory Parents Visa

Hi every one!

We have contributed a little over the 13 months we have been waiting for our visa to be granted.... it has been a long wait but exactly 13 months to the day we got our grant letter.

I would just like to give those of you who are patiently waiting a word of encouragement as the Australian Gov't. seem to leave us guys out in the cold a little. Such a long wait when expected to pay such a large amount of visa fee seems slightly uncaring if we go or not.

May be they will realise the spending power of the " grey majority" is worth some respect in the months to come.

Anyway hang in there any of you waiting in the wings... your time will come!

Hi randpm

WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!!!!

I completely agree with you that in the overall visa-scheme, Parents seem to be the forgotten and largely silent minority.

I know for a fact that LOADS of Parent-applicants and those who are waiting until they can apply read this forum without saying anything publicly because some of them contact me privately, as do their children.

Thank you so, SO much for sharing your excellent news because it really does help to convince those following behind you to believe that Contributory Parent migration is definitely not a mere mirage - it does happen and it can be done. The waiting and suspense are quite horrible, but you forget that once the process is over.

Words can't describe how chuffed I am by your news today, my friends!

Cheers

Gill

This is defnitely very reassuring. We are due to go to Oz in May and my parents are awaiting the outcome of their CP visa - I'm hoping based on 13 months they will know in August and perhaps be in a position to emigrate by November - 6 months without them will be very difficult for all of us.

Congratulations to you - enjoy your new life - it best be so exciting for your family to know you are on your way.

Hi Randpm

Congrats on your visa and I want to wish you all the luck in your new life down under.
If your time line is anything to go by we should get ours granted around beginning of March or sooner would be even better.

Hi Sunsh1ne

Which of rhe CP visas have your Parents applied for and wht is the official lodgement date of their application?

I kow that randpm decided to do the two-stage visa and to get a CP 173 visa to start with, meaning that they have not had to get an AoS into place yet. Not having to do the AoS up front can save quite a bit of time.

Have you considered the option of your Parents travelling to Oz when you do? DIAC in lLondon have become familiar with the idea that a lot of CP applicants choose to do some or all of the interminable waiting in Oz and are normally quite happy to let them have stays of 12 months in Oz on subclass 676 long-stay tourist visas. Please see here:

.Tourist Visa (Subclass 676)

As long as you and they are confident that there will be no problems with their Meds, those can be done in Australia (and I have heard that it is quite a bit cheaper to get them done there.)

If the Parents are in Oz when the POPC would otherwise be ready to grant the visa, the CO sends what is called a pre-grant letter. This advises the applicants that the visa will be granted once the Parent is outside Australia. The CO asks the Parents to make travel arrangements and to let the CO know where they are going and when.

If the Parents are in WA then Bali or Singapore will do for this purpose. If they are on the Eastern side of Oz, most Parents go to Auckland, though Fiji would do instead. 5 days in any of these places is ample, and the DIAC offices in all of them offer counter service so that the Parents can take their passports in in person and wait 15 minutes whilst the visa labels are put into them. Then straight back to Oz.

Just this last weekend, I had a PM from a lady who is doing just this (Molly Flanders, Caz.) Molly says that their visa is ready but that it is very expensive to fly to Auckland & back from Brisbane at this time of year, so they have booked their flights for 24 January.

We did a similar thing with my mother's CP application last year, though Mum chose to return to the UK for a couple of months so her visa was evidenced (ie the visa label put into her passport) in London.

Worth a thought, maybe?

Cheers

Gill

Hi Jo

I'm having another joyful night of insomnia tonight, though I'm hoping that the mug of hot chocolate beside me will do the trick.

Have you been asked to organise the Assurance of Support yet? If so, how is that going?

Cheers

Gill
