I suspect it is to check she hasn't got any communicable disease that may have been passed on to yourselves? I may be wrong?
Im sure someone with more experience will answer

Hi Ron

The reason why they insist on Meds for non-migrating children is because with Child visas, a waiver of the medical criteria is possible. Plainly, then, if someone has a child with all sorts of medical problems, the Parents (or one of them) would get hims/herself out to Oz first and then apply for a Child visa later, taking advantage of the waiver.

So it is another £200, I am afraid....

Cheers

Gill

I think she will still need to have the medical, not sure about the police checks tho

I am sure there probably is a way if she refuses or cannot have the medical, I know of someone who has emigrated without thier 6yr old and the other parent refused to let them have a medical, I think they had to get a letter from a solicitor or even go to court.

I am there will be someone along who can give you more specific information

Hi Ron

Please see this links:

Child Visa (Offshore) (Subclass 101)

The problem lies in the fact that 25 is the cut off age for a child visa, potentially.

However, click on the section marked Eligibility and then click on Applicant.

I guess you might be able to argue a few tosses here?

Cheers

Gill
