Brother in prison

Hi All,
I have tried to dismiss the possibility, as logic would dictate, but can anyone give me a definitive answer? Will the fact that my brother is serving a life sentence in prison (for murder) affect my chances of having my visa application approved? I personally have no police record whatsoever. I tell myself that it shouldn't matter, but there is always that element of doubt. Many thanks.
Paul

I can't see how it makes a difference, it's his crime/time not yours. I'm sure if it was relevant the question of family convictions would be on the application forms.

HI THERE - THEY DO ASK FOR DETAIL OF BROTHERS /SISTERS /MOTHERS /FATHERS ON VISA APPLICATION BUT IT IS ONLY THE PEOPLE ON THE APPLICATION WHO ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE POLICE CLEARANCE - SO I WOULD SAY IT SHOULD DEFINETLY NOT AFFECT YOUR APPLICATION [IM SURE SOMEONE WILL CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG ]

Two of my brothers have been in and out of prison and in trouble most of their adult life(complete wasters can't wait to get away from the scum). I on the other had have never even been talked to by a police officer. I to wondered what would come back regarding the police check. Well it came back totally clear and it was a lot quicker that the 40 working days which people had quoted on here. In fact it took about 12 days for me and 14 for the wife (must be very good people).
So don't worry about your police checks you'll be fine.

checks

Well as far as the police checks go they are only looking at you! The ones who want to move to australia. I would have thought immigration would be the same unless ofcoarse you were perhaps related to an international criminal. (Just my thoughts!) SO & SO did whatever, what's that got to do with you? Good luck

We only had to put on names and Dob's of relatives - it'll be your police check which counts

Good Luck

This should not affect your application it was your brother who was convicted.

Thanks for the replies; you've all basically confirmed what I suspected - it was just a nagging doubt that I had. Thanks
