TRA pathway

hi there - new to this but hoping for some advice!

We had planned to go down the Pathway D route with TRA but this route has been closed.

We were going down pathway D because my husband did not have an apprenticeship as such but has got 6 years experience in his current engineering job as well as 7 years experience in engineering in the Royal Navy when younger.

He has got city and guilds qualifications in engineering which were obtained during on the job training in the Navy and more recently by undertaking an evening class.

Any ideas of whether a pathway B is an option or is a sponsorship our only option?

Thanks

hi
i passed TRA pathway B,(new rules) on my letter it stated that i had passed the 900 hours of formal training i.e college training (qualifications) u must be able to prove you have at least this aswell as 5 years relevent work experience this was also stated as passed on letter if u can provide certs and college details, 5 years work ex refs (i gave 6) u should be ok however it also depends on qualifications city & guilds is an awarding body the qualifcation is B-Tec/NVQ hope this helps can only advise on my experience some one else may be able to help good luck keep us posted!

i thought i had read something about informal training being considered eg. on job training rather than college hours.

I'm currently trying to find out what level his c & g engineering qualification equates to in NVQ terms (it is from 1990 so can't find it on their website at the moment). Didn't realise i had to become Miss Marple!

hi higsey they definately want college experience/qualifications what i decribed above was classed as informal training (pathway b) because i didn't have a formal apprenticeship the only difference is that i arranged my apprenticeship and not the college (formally) which coincided with qualification. u mention u have qualifications it all depends on how long these took to get? how long ago? what type? & if work-based training/appenticeship was done at same time? hope this clears it up for u let me know if u need any more info
