We too received our 457 visa's this week, ours took around 5 weeks! Cant believe myself how quick they turn it around. We are hoping to fly out on 30th Dec (fingers crossed house sale goes through in time) and then hopefully apply for perm visa once there.

My Mood:
My Sis and her family went on a 457 and have now got their permanent, his employer organised an agent (he works for a large company) they still had to gather lots of info, so make sure that you take as much with you as you can in the way or work experience evidence etc
It took about 6 months I think, most of that was getting employment refs and info together and explaining what he was doing in all the country's in his many passports!
They applied after they had been there about 18 months.

This is a topic I know next to nothing about.
However, billy braveheart (their user name) are a super couple called Billy & Janette.
They went out on a 457 in August and I've seen Billy muttering about PR on here since then. I think he probably has a pretty good understanding of what is involved and that he is further along in the planning, so a PM to them might assist.
