Will our medicals be requested on line?

We have applied for our Visa on line and submitted it. The money has been taken but we are not sure what to do next.

On the application status page it says - You and/or your dependant(s) are required to undergo a medical and/or X-Ray. We only applied a few days ago and it seems a bit soon to be booking medicals. Do you think we should wait for another message that says you need to book your medicals now, or shal we just get on with it?

I am not sure if they are telling us for future referance that we will need to undergo medicals or if they want us to do it now.

Hi dibdobs

I don't know whther you have seen my earlir reply to you (which I have now deleted becaus it was not suffiently clear and to the point. Below is an extract from the DIAC website:

Online applications

Online visa applicants should use either Form 26EH and/or Form 160EH. These will be made available to you electronically as part of your online application process. Forms 26EH and 160EH will have your basic details and transaction reference number automatically printed on them.
Note: Do not use Forms 26 or 160 if you are applying online from outside Australia as this may result in delays in processing your application.

It seems pretty clear that if they havee not yet sent yo the forms with the basic information on them, they can't be asking yo to get the Meds done just yet.

If you can say which subclass of visa you haave aplied for, I can help you further.

Cheers

Gill

Hi Paula

Your question is a bit different from the one dibdob has asked.

As to how long your Meds will take to process,, there is a backlog at the LCU at the moment. Easrlier this week I heard from a reliable source that they are curently proocessing Meds received on 28th September for PR visas.

The LCU log the dates on which they receive the Meds but they tend not to show up on the system until they have either been procesd or gave been referred to the MOC for a decision.

The LCU have now taken on extra staff and are working 7 days a wek to try to shift the backlog odf meds files and they are slowly suceeding but progress is still slower than everyone including themslves would wish for. I'd say that you will be able to find out the score with your own meds in about 6 weeks time. You can do that by completing the LCU's o-lline enquiry form if you have the reference number for your application (which presumably you have because you applied on line.) You hvae to give them chapetr and vertse in order to get any information back from them, but please see here:

Local Clearance Unit Health Processing Centre

As to when yo are likely to hear frm a CO, the best thing to do is to send a completely blank e-mail to aspc.processing@immi.gov.au. Literally, you need nothing except their address, because your e-mail will genrate an autoreply, usualy with haaa couple of hous.

I sent them one of these auto e-mails this morning, uessing thatt the extract I copied and pasted off BE yesterday had reached the guy via the auto e-mail route.

The actual auto-reply is actually much longer than the bit the guy from BE quoted, so I think the best thing for you to do is to get your own copy of it because it is easier to follow if you have the whole thing in your hand, I reckon, hence I would encourage you to send for your own copy of it. (This is also why I deleted my first reply to dibdob.)

From what you have said, it sounds like you have applied for the new subclass 175 visa, but yo'll neeed to check that because I steer clear of skilled visas.

Get the e-mail and then come back to me if I can help further, I would suggest.

I think dibdob shold get a copy of this e-mail as well if s/he has applied for a visa that is processd by the ASPC,.

The ASPC update the information every Tuesday, so you'll need to get an updated version of the information then.

Cheers

Gill.

If you log back on to your status page you should see a couple of links (both blue and underlined). If you click on the one that says 'somethingorother' checklist (sorry can't remember exact wording) you should have your forms there ready to print off. They already have the names and TRN numbers on them for every member of your family.

Hi Paula

Australia House in London usually ignore queries about visas where th application has to be dealt with in Australia. They are too busy with their own work, mostly.

You might do better to us the on-line form for the ASPC and ask them why only one version of the Meds forms were supplied instead of one for each member of the family.

But DOB'T worry. The LCU deal with all sorts of incorrectly completed forms and or forms that the applicant has had to alter for some readon or another. All your Meds WILL get proceesd and this WILL be logged into the database foo that your CO will find that he or she can grant the visas.

I'd be inclined tp phone the ASPC about this quiery. You have to perseere in order t get through but they are very helpful nce you succeed. We are on GMT in the UK at present so Adelaide is GMT + 10.5 hours.

Cheers

Gill

My thoughts re medical examinations and front end loading: it remains the case that if significant issues arise with other aspects of a visa application (eg work references) attending medical examinations too early can mean a wasted cost if the problem issues cannot be resolved. e-GSM doesn't change that issue, and it could be contended that the new e-lodgment process in fact raises the risk of applicants incurring costs needlessly.

As a general principle applicants should be aware of this possibility before they attend medical examinations in advance of a case officer requesting them.

Best regards.

Hi Alan

Thanks very much for your help. To help dibdobs, though, if the halth forms are made available o line virtelly straightaway (which it sounds like they may be) then how is the applicant to know when to get the Meds done? Does the e-syetem pronpt them to do it or something, please? I'm as baffled as Dibdobs about how one is supposed to know when to go for the Meds with these e-visas, never having seen one (in my own case) that requires Meds.

Similarly, if Paula had waited, would the forms for the scondary applicants have been downloaded at some stage?

I a struggling to imagine how the e-system works with regard to Meds forms and requests for PCCs.

Many thanks

Gill
