Exclamation Employer nominated sponsored

Hi, Can anyone tell me once you have been accepted on this scheme, is there a time scale in which you have to be with that employer. Can you be sent home if your not with that employer for a specific period of time ? for example if you have a difference of opinion and part company!

Hi Gundog, we are trying to go down that route too!!!!!
the way we understand it, ( someone correct me if I'm wrong please)
you have to say with your sponser TWO YEARS????
should you have a problem within this time, you have around a month to either find another sponser or leave,
not quite 100% sure, but this is what I understand.
what type work do you do?????, have you managed to find a sponser????
good luck with whatever you do, pretty sure you will find all the ansewrs you need on here., be lucky Theresa.
PS My OH is in warehouse and distribution,(warehouse Manager) not a single imigration agency will take us on, as its not on the MODL, so we are just sending his CV out, hope we get lucky.

Gundog,

I presume that you're talking of the s.457 Long Stay Temporary Business Visa, which I am also going on. If so, then there is no set timescale that you have to work for that employer, though the visa is for a maximum duration of 4 years and the period is nominated . There is no automatic right to permanent residency from this visa, and you are tied to the named employer. If you have a disagreement and leave (or are sacked) then you have 28 days to either find a new employer willing to sponsor you (and a new visa application is requried) or leave the country.

Hope this helps
Dave

Thats pretty much it!!!

I came out on a 457 long stay business VISA and am still with my employer. After 18 months they sponsored me for PR.

I didnt even have an interviewfor my job - I was allocated via an agency!

Dont know if this is much help but i only had to be with my employer for 1 year, which I was. I applied for PR after 10months of employment and had PR almost 1 year to the day I commenced employment without any problem.

I am due to take up a sponsored position with a mining company and am awaiting a 457 4 yr temporary visa - the company are, however, keen to make us permanent resident after 2 yrs service. I believe that for any PR visa you need to have been in that role for at least 2 years, so some people are able to apply as soon as they get to Oz and start working.
