Hi can anyone please help me. I got some certifield copies recently buy the solicitor charged £50 and now I need a few more done it will cost £40! I understand the Justices of the peace may be free - where do I find one? There is a local court, is it there? OR anyone know who will do it for free? Can I go to police station and ask someone! Hello!
I got mine done by a JP for free at my local District Court. I just looked at their website and sent them an email to confirm what times they'd be availible to sign them. Got them done no probs! I'm in Scotland, so I don't know if it's exactlly the same else where in the UK.

For our skills assessment, anyone that could witness a passport application could certify our copies.
I would just have a quick check on the relevant website and see it they will also accept that. Should save you a bit of money. Fortunately, I know a nurse and a police officer so I just alternated between the two.

I think it's simply a case of knowing the right people! We don't, so we had a solicitor do it - they only charged £2 per copy, but we had to shop around as fees seem to vary widely. Our local magistrates court wanted to charge about £20 per copy!!!
Maybe try another solicitor or try and bargain a bit with them - it's money for nothing to them anyway so they might be a bit flexible - ours were.

Bernie I rang my local cop shop and popped down just after the evening shift change and they signed 63 certified copies for me so I reckon you just gotta ask!!
