Medicals & Police checks
Hi Everyone, hope you can help, I have just registered and will be grateful for all the advice I can get. We are waiting on or Visa being granted, our police checks were sent off on 4th September and Medicals arrived in Sydney on 13th September.
The doctor who carried out our medicals said there was a 10 week backlog!!!!!! Is this correct?
Our timeline is:
TRA sent 12/12/06
TRA Passed 21/01/07
Visa Lodged 20/04/07
Case officer allocated 24/07/07
Medicals and police checks requested 02/09/07
Medicals 04/09/07
Police checks requested 04/09/07
Medicals sent to Sydney 13/09/07
Do you think we could be there for Christmas??? or are we being too optimistic????

Hi Eddie and Tina
How are your kids coping with the planned move? We have a 7 year old daughter and as much as I thought it was going to be easy for her, she has been quite emotional about leaving friends/family, and as much as I know she will benefit from such a great life, you can't help but feel a bit guilty!!!!!!!

Hi Elaine,
Welcome to PIO,
We're in the backlog too, it was indeed 8-10 weeks when our meds were sent at the start of August. We're still waiting and the backlog seems to be moving, albeit slowly. Someone on another thread said that meds received in Sydney on 3rd Aug are being processed at the moment so that should give you some idea how long its taking,
Sorry it's not better news, we'll all get there in the end!!

Thanks Bec.
I had spoken with our migration agency and they said that there WAS a delay, but this was approx for 4 weeks, and that there cannot always be a backlog.
Fingers crossed!!! I'm just gutted that I now need to go and buy winter clothes ha ha!!!!!

Hi Elaine
Which visa have you applied for?
The delay is only about 4-5 weeks for temporary visas such as the 457, but the LCU is only now beginning to process meds files received at the beginning of August in connection with PR visas.
The one bit of good news is that apparently the LCU are currently working at weekends in order to try to clear the backlog.
Cheers
Gill

Hi Gill
It's for a PR skilled visa. We have resigned to the fact that it will be after Christmas that we get there!!!
We ideally wanted to be there before Christmas 'cos we're not taking any furniture with us, only personal belongings and we're leaving a lot of our daughters toys. We really wanted to get her a bike etc ...from Santa as I think this will be her last year of Santa and make it special......bit confused just now. x
Thanks Gill
