Sean Golding
Does anyone know the minimum level of qualification I have to be enrolled on in order to qualify for a student visa? The course I wanted to enrol on is a Certificate IV in Programming, as it will give me the practical experience that I need to back up my current studies. I have an HND now, the equivalent of an associate degree. But to qualify for a student visa do I need to be studying a minimum of a diploma? Or is that just for streamlined visa processing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can apply to study, just about anything, but the are specific requirements to be met if the objective is to enhance your prospects of qualifying for permanent residence. I strongly advise that you you not rely entirely on information from course providers, who might not refer you to a more appropriate provider, or 'education agents' who mostly work for commissions and would be most unlikely to refer you to a course provider from which they did not receive a commission. I advise that before you commit to a course of action, you should run your case past a registered migration agent.
