visa applications

hi all, just registered on site, currently nursing, have had skills assessment back and have sent off visa application end of Aug 07. Have heard process takes around 12 months? can anybody give me more details on how the application will proceed? Just been reading some threads and not sure what case officers are etc? sorry if i sound a bit thick!

Which subclass of visa have you applied for? Skilled Independent? Subclass 136 (now 175)?

Hi and welcome to PIO.

No one will ever think you are thick by questions that you have we have all had them at some time.

If you look at my timeline at the end of my post you will see that from when we sent off our first piece of paperwork it is almost 10 months and we have just completed our meds so hopefully not much longer.

We have been quite lazy about getting our paperwork done though and our agent kept chasing us to keep on the ball, we started doing the paperwork last September. so we weren't that good.

If we had done as the agent had asked I believe we could have been there by now I think 12 months is realsitic.

A case officer is someone you are allocated once your application has been received although not straight away see timeline. They are the people who collate all you info and gives the decision on your visa.

Hi there,

We've applied for a 136 skilled non modl, this is our timeline - hope it helps,

Application sent 23rd March,
money taken about mid May,
Received acknowledgement 6th June,
Received file reference number 25th June,
Assigned Case Officer 10th Aug,
Meds and police checks sent beginning of August,

Currently our medicals are stuck in the backlog at Sydney LCU waiting to be processed, but fingers crossed we'll get a decision in the next 2 weeks,
