Parents contributory Visa: progress

Hi every one !

Its been sometime since I have contributed.... however I thought some updates may be useful to others in the same position or considering applying.

We applied of 31st of October 2006 and after an acknowledgement heard nothing at all until
the 31st August this year ( 10 months ) . We already did our UK police check and was surprised to find we were also asked to apply for a Federal Police check in Australia!
We then had our medical and as we are now staying in Malaysia, having sold our house in the UK, we were concerned that it would be difficult. However it was easy and cheap! That done we have now spoken to our case officer on several occassions and she was very helpful.
But now we are told a delay of 8 weeks is expected as Sydney is behind with the processing of the medicals. So front load your medicals after 8 months is my advice!

So anyone waiting take heart......... its a long wait!

My parents are doing the CPV and are at 8 months since acknowledgement. They are not going to frontload anything though

Hi!

My position is different to yours, but I keep seeing this term 'front-loading'... may be a silly question but what does it mean?!

Thanks!!

It means getting your medicals/police checks done before they are requested.

Hi Johatts......

We were also advised not to do the checks and medicals until the case officer asked for them.... however be aware of the delay somtimes in getting medicals done in the UK and then the 8 week delay in Aus for the medical which is likly to get longer. The police check also takes 30 days as you are probably aware.

After waiting 10 months we are really dissapointed at having yet another delay we could have avoided by front loading the medical. Perhaps we are getting to old and impatient!!!

Oh yeah I can fully understand that! However my mum and Dad dont want to be stuck in a situation where they only have 2-3 months left to validate!

They want to get the VISA & know that they are under no pressure to sell the house and have a big leaving do! I think you may have spoken to my mum on here! CazBeckham!

SAVTA is an unknown quantity at this point
We applied for our CPV back in JUNE 2006! Frontloaded our Police Reports but NOT medicals. Moved over to OZ in August 2006 and are playing the waiting game here

Thought we were high and dry and then were asked to re-apply for our Police checks as only valid one year! (Also had to have police checks here)! Sent all documents to the UK - waited almost 40 days and then everything was returned to us as one document was missing (utility bill). Duly returned BUT we had to wait ANOTHER 40 days until the UK police reports arrived. So everyone be aware of this hiccup!!!

Now everything is with DIMA ........and we are told should only take another few weeks....BUT WHO KNOWS.....WATCH THIS SPACE

Hi Savta

I'm delighted to hear that your UK police checks have finally arrived.

Now it is only a question of paying the 2nd instalment and making arrangements to go to Auckland once they issue the pre-grant letter.

You are VERY close to the end of this saga now. You are definitely in the Home Straight with it.

Hug

Hi randpm
I'm dead jealous that you're enjoying Malaysia and I'm not!! The UK weather is turning vile. Wet, windy and unseasonally chilly. It was -3C in the Midlands 2 nights ago. In September???? This should not be.

Yep. You're right about the 8 week backlog at the LCU in Sydney. I know other CPV applicants who are caught up in it and absolutely everyone (skilled applicants as well as CPV applicants) is cursing about it.

I heard a couple of days ago that the LCU had told somebody that they are currently processing Meds files received in their office on 30th July if this is any help in judging how much longer you might have to wait until the Final Section begins.....in which they ask for the money and then grant the visa.

Please keep us posted as matters progress from here because two other CPV applicants (at least) who are also caught up in the LCU headache are regular readers of this forum. Like you, both have applied for the CP 173 visa initially.

Cheers

Gill
