Wink Spouse Via - Front Loading and working??

I come from a different angle to most of you, as I am Australian and my Husband is English. We currently live in the Isle of Man and will be returning/emigrating in February with our Son and another on the way. We already have a house, and all my family and friends are there so I guess the visa is the only thing concerning us at the moment. We will be applying in Oz for the Visa as we will need to be there when it is approved.

I have started to look at all the Visa info, and reading on here from all your experiences, I have a few questions if you can help....

      1. What is 'front loading' an application?

      2. Is it possible to start working once your application has been submitted? My Husband will be going out there to start up the Aussie HQ of a UK company and will need to start working ASAP.

      3. We will have been married almost 6 years by the time we apply, will my Husband automatically get a 'premanent' visa as opposed to the usual 'temp visa'?

      4. If we did apply in the UK, how long do they give you until you have to turn up in Australia after it is granted?

I am sure I have heaps of other questions, but that's it for now. If anyone has any Sydney specific questions they need answered, feel free to contact me!!!

      Hi Shell,

I can't answer all of your questions and I am still waiting for some sort of contact so I don't know how my application is getting on yet but here goes.

I believe frontloading is when you submit your police check and medical at the same time as the application, it's not what I did but that is because we are not aiming to go until next August so no rush anyway. I think once the visa has been granted I have a year to validate it in Australia, sorry can't answer the work question and as for the temp/perm visa I was thinking the same as you as we have been married for 6 years and I am sure I read somewhere on here that if you have hit the 5 year mark then a lot of the time they grant the perm visa at the same time (even more so if you have children aswell)

If I've got any of that wrong hopefully someone will correct me.

      Wendy, thanks for your reply!

I just wasn't sure if I needed to 'ask' them to make my Husband permanent, as opposed to just getting temporary residency by default.

A year to validate - wow that is ages! Maybe we could apply here and then not have to deal with it later on?? Has anyone else heard that?

Here's hoping that it is fairly straight forward as my Husband won;t be able to wait a long time to start work.

      Cheers

      Shell,

Why don't you apply for the Spouse visa now (ie when you are offshore)? Spouse visas processed in London are generally decided in 4 to 8 weeks.

Maybe have a freebie chat with my colleague Lorraine Beaumont on UK (Southampton) number 023 80 488777. Lorraine used to work at the Australian High Commission handling family visa applications before she joined Go Matilda.

      Best regards.
