movingback
I have my citizenship test in about 10 days time. I think its scheduled for first thing in the morning (9am). How long will it take to check documents and do the test? Just wondering if I will be out of there by about 11:30 so I can still do half a days work or if I need to take the whole day off. Is the whole process quite straight forward?
AJ
might take 15-20 mins with the person checking your details and if you have read your book, 5 minutes for the test, its so easy!
wattsy1982
How long from you applying for citizenship did you get your test? Im hoping to apply, do test and have ceremony all in 4 1/2 months....that feasable?
AJ
depends where you are, apply around 2 months for a test date, can be up to 6 months for ceremony, depends how busy it is in your area.

Suzukiscottie
Assuming you pass the interview/test, then it's all in the hands of your local council. And that will depend on how many new citizens they have to process and also how they plan their citizenship ceremonies.
movingback
@wattsy1982 - I think you have to use your local council as you need to provide several proof of address documents.
handsomewill
Got my citizenship application in online today. not many rungs to climb up now before I can start planning my exit. if you apply online, do you get your exam notification via email or in the post? I only ask as our postie takes the postbox as a 'rough guide' rather than a must hit.
Suzukiscottie
Our appointments came through as an email. We applied on paper.
Quinkla
Got my citizenship application in online today. not many rungs to climb up now before I can start planning my exit. If you are so keen to leave, why on Earth would you want citizenship?
handsomewill
If you are so keen to leave, why on Earth would you want citizenship? so I can have the option of coming back. need a change of scenery for the time being. things change. Quinkla
so I can have the option of coming back. need a change of scenery for the time being. things change. You know that's the diametric opposite of what citizenship is for and you will have to make a false declaration about your intention to settle in Australia in order to get citizenship? This doesn't bother you at all?

This doesn't bother you at all? nope, not one bit. I tell lies all the time babe. told an ex girlfriend once she didn't look fat in a dress when indeed she looked like a kilo of jelly in an asda bag. so declaring false intentions will just get my juices flowing, ill be pickpocketing an entire nation! ill be handsome with dual citizenship. that doesn't bother me at all.
