If it's any help we sent ours on a Monday and got it back safe and sound on the following Thursday. I think it was a 'Silver Wallet' or something, cost about £8, which includes the SAE for the return address, which is also a silver wallet thing, the notification will give you the correct terminology.

Hope this puts a bit of faith back into our postal system!

Our passports travelled by silver wallet to our agents, they sent them to London and then they came back to us by silver wallet. I do understand the stress - I hated the thought that someone could steal my passport and try to steal my identity!

Don't know how you'd go about arranging to go to Australia house but I'm sure you could. Sounds like a fab day out!

Hi Nic
First of all Congratulations on the Visa, have you stopped smiling yet??

We were going to go to London as well (dont know if you can tho, sorry) but in the end I just sent them off.
Go to the Post Office and buy 2 pre-paid special/guarenteed delivery silver bags. Ours were £4.40 each.
Address one to yourselves and put it with all your passports and your grant letter into the other one and send it to London (or wherever it says, cant remember now).

I sent ours on a Saturday and they were back on Thursday!

Its dead easy.

Hi Graham$Nic

The easy way is Special Delivery with the Royal Mail. Please see the link below for the Destructions about what to do:

Visas and migration - Australian High Commission

Passports really do come back in the timeframe the others have described, with the magic sticker safely in them.

Then you keep looking at the passport and smirking!

We've all done it, so Enjoy!!

Cheers

Gill

Hiya - you're not being thick at all!

The silver bag or wallet is for guarenteed next day delivery. Just go into the post office and ask for a silver bag, pop your passport in, fill in the address and the post office will give you a receipt. Simple as that - sorry of we confused you.
