Hubbys police record?????
My O/H stupidly has a DD (drink driving) on his police record
"tut tut" which happened when he was 18 we are now 27 and have no other criminal offences against us. Will this maybe make the process a bit longer? Do they deal with clean records 1st, just that we are patiently waiting for ac/o and are wondering if this has sommit to do with it?????? Oreven worse will they refuse our app because of this???When you are this far into the process you start looking for possible reasons why it is taking so long. Our day to day life has been taken over by this. My OH constantly rings home asking "check my emails" or when I do ring him he thinks its to say "we have a c/o" it really is a nightmare!!!!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL Lisa.x
Arrived in Cairns 18th June 08 and Loving it!!!

I think you are worrying needlessly. OH has a police record our timescale for a CO was the same as others who had sent there application off at the same time.
No more information was requested regarding this just request for meds and PC's .
Hope this puts your mind at ease.

Hi Els-Bells
I completely agree with Jan. You have to have been in the slammer for at least 12 months before they worry about covictions and one bloke got a Spouse visa despite having done time in the UK for manslaughter. Apparently he killed his first wife. The Tribunal accepted that he had acted under extreme duress, it would seem.
About a year ago, an Aussie Immi solicitor with a very dry sense of humour used to post on the forums. A guy was worried because he had had a bit too uch in the pub whilst watching a football match on telly. Once outside, he got involved in a brawl in which he decked a copper. He was nicked for decking the cop.
The Aussie solicitor observed, "Here in Melbourne, nobody would abandon their beer for the sake of a brawl. Decking a cop wold be regarded as a community service here, anyway."
Cheers
Gill

Hi ,i don't think there is anything to worry about. I too had a little !! And my agent told me there is nothing o worry about you have to have done 12 mths or more in prision for them to think twice.
GOOD LUCK.

The only thing that could happen was if you haven't declared it on your application - it could be delayed a little, but the conviction itself woun't stop you getting a visa.

I just want PIO to be a happy place where people are nice to each other and unicorns poop rainbows

Hi, my oh had a conviction but our agent said as long as it was declared and he had told the truth etc. it shouldn't be nothing to worry about. Our stuff was sent over in May to our CO and we are still waiting - apparently things are incredibly slow at the moment - good luck anyway Nat
Attitude is a small thing that makes a big difference
