Question Student Visa???

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but have been reading posts for the last few months. We really want to emigrate to Oz and have instructed an agent - on recommendation - we have 2 options, either on an Employer sponsored Visa with my DH's job, or on a Student Visa with me as the application.

We have many concerns with the Student Visa cause of the expense and the fact that DH will only be able to work 20 hours. Once we have dols up and paid of debts and forked out for all the costs relating to emigrating, inlcuding flights and removals, we will be going over to Oz with practically nothing.

We also have 2 children and we will have to pay for them to go to school.

I don't think it is do-able - can anyone let me know there experiences of going over on a Student Visa or any advice from anyone would be great.

Getting really depressed about it all. The kids are desperate to live over there - we came back about 6 weeks ago after a holiday/rec mission!

Thanks in advance to all who might reply!

Hiya Tinks

Understand your dilemma, not the cheapest option is it

We're going next June, as my OH and my teenage daughter have both secured places at a TAFE College in Melbourne.

However, our situation is slightly different to yours, as I will be able to work the full 20hrs, and not have to worry about either childcare or school fees. We're also taking a good few £££s as well, as we have been lucky enough to make a few £££s on the property ladder.

If you want to know anything specific, please PM. I'm happy to help

Cheers,
Rache

Hi Tinks

If you were to go to university to do an MBA or other type of Masters then your husband would be able to work full time. Check it out.

Hello there,

A lot would depend upon what your OH does, what study plan would be (course fees can vary alot from AUD5000 to AUD18000 per year) and very important where (some places have more work than others)?

Any questions just ask.

Cheers Andrew

We were going on a student visa, but then realized we could go on a SIR to adelaide, as you don't need to meet the 120 pass mark. (South Australia sponsor you so you get extra points from them) its temp for 3 yrs, but you can apply for PR after 2 yrs, providing you have worked in aus for 12 months (accumelated).
