New MODL effective yesterday 30 July 2007, changes as follows:

The following occupations are new to the 'Migration occupations in demand list'

Architect 2121-11
Computing professional specialising in sybase SQL 2231-79
External Auditor 2212-11
Quantity Surveyor 2122-11
Aircraft maintenance engineer (Avionics) 4114-15
Aircraft maintenance engineer (mechanical) 4114-11
Locksmith 4115-15
Optical mechanic 4999-11
Painter and decorator 4421-11

There was only 1 occupation that was no longer on the list which was;
General electronic instrument (tradesperson)

Everyone's happy unless you're a general electronic instrument tradesperson. Good to see painter and decorator back on there.

Any questions, let me know either privately or on forum, happy to help.

Regards,
No Truck Drivers

Good night from Sydney,

Thanks Kim. I have had an offer of sponsor from a guy in Alice Springs to drive his car transporter but my OH isn't having it. She says it's too out the way and in the desert. If i don't get to the sunshine coast then she's talking about going to Canada.
. It was nice of steve to get in touch and ask me. I would also like peoples opinion of Alice Springs, so i have put a thread on the migration forum. Thanks again Kim. Regards Garry.

Question Elect Inst Techs - what happens if U've Applied Already??!

Hi Kim:
I don't know how you have time to keep PIO so up-to-date with EVERYTHING migration-orientated. We really do appreciate it.

OH submitted Visa Application at the end of May (w/Agent) TRA is the dreaded Electronic Instrument Tech(although specialized military experience) - does this mean he's too late & his points won't count??? We're still awaiting CO, although they took the $$ in June! He's more interested in project coordination anyway, than pure Trade, but could this
be bad news for EI Techs who've already submitted Visa Apps??
Thank you, very much for your advice,
Herbster -

(A cool country bear who likes a quiet life near the surf, but
can't decide between rural/coastal Tassie or if such exists in SA or S Victoria?!) Any suggestions??!

Kim,

Can you advise the best option for my 20 year old son to join us when we go to Oz. We going on an e457 but had 2 different pieces of advice. Company say he can apply and come on working visa then when we apply for permanent he can stay apply through us & that way, however immigration say he can only apply on his own rights. He is currently working as a croupier (gaming dealer) but cant get job in casino as TR

Hi kim,
I'm a painter n decorator and i got my application in 3 weeks b4 my 45th birthday back in april. Just heard the modl list has changed and my trade is in demand. Is there any way I can get the permanent visa + go anywhere in aus.
I would appreciate your response.
Thanks,

For an offshore general skilled visa application you have to be under 45 on the date the visa application is lodged with the Department of Immigration - so all is well for you in that regard.

Best wishes.

If he is now working and earning an income he is most likely no longer your dependant => he has to apply on the basis of his own experience/qualifications/etc.

This said, he might be able to look at a Remaining Relative visa in due course ...
