Please help. Is it realistic to get TRA sent off ready for these changes on 1st Sept. We havn't even started it yet. Agent is sending us the info today? I,m really nervous about starting this

Hi Simone, and welcome to PIO, as I believe it the sooner the better, but it's not just the TRA's, out agent has said these take 4 weeks to get approved, I think that's two weeks with TRA if your employment is on the MODL, one week getting there and one week getting back, but then you have to have the visa application logged by the end of August, before the 1st September, to advoid the changes.

Who is your agent??? What is your employment?, if it's straight forward then yes, once the TRA's are off you can start filing in the visa application form. (which is where we are at the moment).

Are you talking about your visa application or just the TRA (are there changes to the TRA on Sept 1st as well as to the visas?)?
If its the whole visa application then I'd say you're pushing it a bit.

I think the TRA takes about 4 weeks to come back and although we didnt go via the TRA I know that it can take ages to do, getting referances, all your docs/certs, writing the whole thing etc, some people spends months just doing the TRA.

Does your agent think its possible?

Ive been reading the new process and its sooooo much more expensive so it might mean a lot of people will try and apply for their TRA asap !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, The good thing though about the new system is that if your a trade that needs registration/licencing, then you will get this at the end and will be able to start work staright away in OZ, so you might want to take that into consideration too... so it might just be worth waiting and paying a bit more, so the decision lays with you and depends on how desperate you are to get to Oz !!!!!! Confusing I know..............

Destination OZ, My partner is a Carpenter and joiner. we live in a small town and can contact most of his employers etc easily. I am not working too much over the summer holidays (appart from the children) so can dedicate time to this. It is still sounding a bit unrealistic tho?? Does the visa application have to be sent by sept too then?

The visa application has to be lodged with them, by the end of August. (this is what our agent has told us).
