Prospective Marriage Visa Questions

Hi, been browsing the forum for a couple of weeks now, however this is my first posts.

My Austrlain finance and I (british citizen) are applying for a prospective marriage visa (getting married on March 28th 2008) and I've got a couple of queries.

1. With regards to the question on from 47SP about the value of money and goods you will be taking to Australia, is there a limit or an amount that is preferable. I have money I was planning on leaving in a uk account, however if it will help my application then I can take transfer it to my Australian account.

2. It says to include a copy of my birth certificate with both my parents names on it. However, I only have my original birth certificate which doesn't state my parents names on it. Will this cause a problem?

3. My finance is an Australian citizen by birth, however her birth certificate is currently at the british embassey in Canberra as she is applying for a british passport (british parents). Will a copy of her passport be accetable as proof that she is an Austrlian citizen?

Thanks in advance

Mark.

hi and welcome to PIO dont know the answer to question 47SP im sure someone will.

you do need a full BC with both parents you can order a copy online although this is quite expensive you can also get a copy from the p[lace your birth was registered i think this can be done over the phone.

Your wife-to -all also needs to supply her full BC as a passport is not enough!!!

good luck

Hey,

I am currenty going through the same visa, sent my visa off on the 9th of june. Had my medical done on the 6th of July.
We are getting married on the 19th April 2008
If you need an help with the application form i will be happy to help if i can.

Think you have to at least take £2,000 in money that you have to take with you so you can live off it till you get a job and support yourself that way. Not too sure though.
I currently have over £4,000 (more by the time i am granted) in my account i am taking with me and putting it in an account, if am granted. Don't forget you have to put value of your good your taking in that estimation.

As for the other questions i am not sure. Would llike to think the passport was ok for proof of Australia citizenship, but don't take my word for it.

Are application was straight forward, just waiting on there decision now, but like i say if you need any help wit other questions i will be happy to help if i can :).

Good luck, sorry if am not much help.

Hello

Can I just ask.... if you know...

Im getting married to my Australian boyfriend in Oct this year.

Can I have my Meds and police checks done now even though Im not planning to apply until about June next year?
Or will they say they are out of date by then?

We havnt started the application process yet and hope to try and go it alone as the agents charge far too much I think (well we got quoted about £3000!!) I cant afford that, so gonna try to apply on our own, if we fail twice will get an agent.
xx

I know on most visa's that medicals are valid for a year but don't know if this is the same as the visa you're applying for.

copies of birth certificates only cost £7

Not sure about the money - but you may need to check that if you transfer money later if you'll be taxed on it.

Hi, the meds last about a yr i think, but your better off doing it all together if you can when your ready to apply for your visa. Meds and police checks need a visa to reference too once you have had them. So personally i would avoid having them till your ready to apply for the visa.
Your case officer when you have logged your visa will tell you to go for your medical, as for the police check, i put mine in withe the visa.

As for the agent, is it the spouse visa you will be going for?. That application is easy to do without a Agent. We haven't used one for ours the Prospective Marrigae visa which is the same visa sheet. Was easy enough to do it alone.

Hope it's some kind of help for you.

Thanks for all your relpies.

Think I might put $9000 dollars in the goods form as this is roughly what I'll be taking.

Good luck to everyone else applying and hopefully I'll be posting some more on here in the future.

Thanks again

MArk.
