Enough experience?

Hi all

I'm 33yrs old and have been training/working as a joiner&carpenter for 4years in august. Having spent a year (99/00) in Ausy on a Working Holiday Visa I would love to go back and settle but don't know if I have the experience to be awarded the points for joinery. Is there somewhere I could go to be assessed on my skills?

Thanks
Matt

or try the australian oficial website as some agents sites sometimes give you wrong marks. It happened to me before.
The australian site is more acurate and you can read about every visa and see what suits you best.

hi mat .i am a carpenter, joiner have been for 18 years. You say you've been training for 3-4 years, have you passed any exams yet? Don't take this as gospel but i think, going by what my agent told me you need 7 years experience within your trade, if you don't have the relevant paper work, but again don't take this as gospel.
There are tons of people on here who are more informed than i am. As for getting your skills assessed go on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (i think this is the name - if this is wrong i'm sure someone will have corrected me, if this is wrong) you'll get all your advice there.
Assessment cost is £300 which is non-refundable.

Hi Matt
Have a look at the thread l ran a week or so back titled 'TRA Uniform Assessment Criteria'.
It tells you exactly how much experience is required depending on training, work experience etc. Although the visa currently requests 2 out of the last 3 yrs working in the job, the TRA requires more and this has to be passed before you can apply for the visa.
Good luck with it all.
Lyn

Scarletfever will become famous soon enough
Yea, I think its 6 as well mate. No harm in trying an online assesment with a follow up free consultation. Saying that, one of the agent members will probs see your post and tell you the way it is.

Hello again! I have a sister from my dads first marriage living in Melbourne would she be able to sponsor me? I think she sponsored her mum and stepdad when then went out to live. Cheers,
Matt
