Red face changes from september 07!!!!!

      hi,
here is one question for the experts!
According to the immi website :

      "What is vocational English?
Vocational English is having a reasonable command of the English language, coping with overall meaning in most situations and the ability to communicate effectively in your nominated field of employment.
To demonstrate you have vocational English you must show that you:
have scored a minimum of IELTS 5.0 in each of the four test components
      or
hold a passport from the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, the United States of America or the Republic of Ireland.

Now, if i have a british passport, and i have, but i am originally from a non english speaker country, does it apply for me? I don't need the IELTS test any more?!

      thank you!

i'm a member of another forum... we had someone there whereby the wife had been living in Canada since they were very young, had Canadian passport, yet she was asked to sit for IELTS.... apparently it boiled down to her mother country.

We have a friend going through the process of applying for a skilled visa and he has been advised he will have to take the english test. he is a native english speaker with a uk passport. Think new regulations mean EVERYONE has to take it!

i am really confused! the new changes from sept 07 says IELTS 5 OR british passport...

so i understand that if i have british passport i don't need the IELTS.

      any can clarify that please?

      thank you
