Hi
We're doing an employer nomination too. Depends whether its a permanent visa or a temporary 457 visa. how ours worked ;Permanent, they nominate you to fill a position that cannot be filled by an aussie, this takes about 2 months (ours was lodged on 15/5/07 and came on22/6/07) so it does vary. You can get your skills assessed while you're waiting for this to come through, you need a positve skills assessment before you can apply for your visa. once you get your nomination number you use it on all correspondence with the buissness unit that issued the number. Then its the usual police checks ,medicals etc.
tempory 457 work diffrerent , they sort your visa out ,you only have to get police checks and chest x rays done. once you're in oz you then apply for your permanent visa but you still have to get your skills assessed before you can apply . My advise to you is to get your skills assessed before you go(its hard enough getting the info from here in th uk ,just imagine trying to get it from 12000 miles away!!!) and you have to get medicals and maybe another police check. Whichever one you have we at moreteavicar wish you all the best.
HI
We are also applying for a 121 ENS. We sent our application to Perth in May and have been told that the average processing time is 6 months. We were hoping it would have been quicker but apparently Perth have a back log. Can I ask where your application is being processed and have you been told how long it will take?
Cheers Suzanne
Ours is being processed at the Adelaide unit, as this is where our contact lives and his main office is there. It makes his life easier because its on his door step ! We haven't any idea how long the processing times are ,however and i'm not 100% on this but ithink that once you get a nomination number you're allocated a case officer ,so i don't know if that makes it any quicker. My job is at Melbourne but i don't think it matters where your visa is processed as long as the nomination comes from the same place.
Thanks for the reply. It is the 457 visa I am getting sponsorship through. I was a bit confused about your timeline. Did your employer have to apply for nomination for you before you could apply for your visa? If so, how long did the employer have to wait for the go ahead? I presume that you then applied for the visa on 01/05?
My employer has just started the nomination process (which can take up to three months) and I have been told I can't really do anything until that has gone through.
Hi
The 457 is different ,the employer sorts your tempory visa which is a 4 year visa, you get police checks and a chest x-ray, this type of visa is much quicker to get but you end up doing all the work for the permenant visa once you're down under,ie skill assessment full medical and so on. Good advice is to get your skills assessed and take a positive skill assessment with you ,trust me you don't want to be doing your TRA down there ,freinds of mine are doing exactly that now and they're finding it very difficult. Good luck !
Hi,
I'm going on a temp 457 visa and was reading your post about getting skills assessed before we go, How does that work? I don't qualify as a nurse till september and have got a graduate position in Townsville, do you know if I will be able to get my skill assessed then??
