quick question for all those on poms in oz,
when you arrive in oz for the first time, (as we will on june 27th), do you just need your passport+visa, or do you also need acknowledgement letter or anything else.
also what happens? , do they just check out your visa and stamp it?, or is there more forms to fill in?...as if we haven't done enough already!.
so anyone with recent experience of their first 'foot fall' in oz, let us know what happens.
i only ask as i'm running out of things to worry about!.

You only need your passport to get through immigration and you fill in a card of the plane regarding if you're declaring anything, where you're staying and how long for.
There isn't any sort of fanfare - but we left the desk with massive smiles on our faces (which quickly faded when we joined the Q to have our cases x-rayes lol).

Hi,
Your passport is fine. I will never forget when I arrived here, proudly showed my passport to the guy who looked at it (and my visa stamp) , looked at me and said 'welcome home mate!' - priceless!!!!
Ooohhh, cant wait now, we go next Saturday. I never thought of taking any paper work as we're just going to validate, might just put the grant letter in, just in case.

The immigration officer who dealt with us was aboriginal decent. She looked at the visa and said "so you're intending to reside permanently?" with a look of 'why don't you bugger off back to where you came from' :).
I guess she had a point?
