visa processing times?!!!!

Hi
Has anybody tried this ?If you send an email to this address(it can be blank without subject or message) aspc.processing@immi.gov.au then they send an automated email back to you which visas they are dealing with at the moment.
My concern is that it doesn't seem to tie in with some peoples time lines on PIO.
It says they they are currently processing offshore applicants whose visas were lodged on or before Aug 2006!(i'm sure i've read that correctly)
Love to hear any other thoughts on this.

Paul,Emma,Thomas &Rosie

Visa app sent -02/04/07
Still waiting for ackn.
Police checks app. for
Meds booked 29/05/07

Hi woody
We tried the adelaide skills process email address too and the dates never moved very fast and to be honest its not that great Our agent phoned us on the 1st of march07 to let us know that our CO had requested our meds & pc's. I asked her how could it be possible as I checked the ASPC email every week and we were not near that stage, dates still showing June06 (for skilled on demand) and we lodged 4th DEC 06. She said it was only a basic guide.
9 weeks since meds & pc's sent , still waiting.
All the best with the rest of your visa process
col

It's a bummer this one.

My agents explanation for it was that at this time of year (the migration period ends in June) they cherry pick which applications are going to be easy to process and get them shoved through quick to fill the quota of migrants that they have been set.

Sorry if this isn't any help or if it just depresses you

Thanks guys
A lot to ponder over there! It's all a bit of lottery by the sound of things.
Our hopes of getting there in September are vanishing fast!!
Earlier this year people were saying that there was about a 4 month turn around for MODL.
Oh well ,what can you do but sit and wait!
Hope your visa comes soon Col. I can't believe you've been waiting 9 weeks since sending your p/c and meds. What on earth are they doing?!

That isn't correct ... the migration regulations don't allow the Department to do that.

You will probably find though that applications that are "lower risk" are processed more quickly than those that aren't. This means applications from UK based applicants are generally likely to be processed more quickly than those from other parts of the globe - I'd be surprised if there are many UK based skilled visa applicants waiting to hear from a case officer where the application was delivered to the ASPC after the turn of this calendar year.

Best regards.

Thanks for that Alan,
We were kind of getting a feeling that that was the reasoning behind it. I don't suppose you have any idea for approx waiting times for acknowledgment or is it a case of how long is a piece of string?
We posted our application on 02/04/07 and understand from a friend that packets are taking about 2 weeks to arrive from England to Australia. There was a general feeling that there was a 4 month turn around for MODL applicants - is this still the case?
Thanks for the info
Paul

Assuming you are in the UK 9 months before you hear anything is nonsense in my view.

I had a request from the Skilled Processing Centre this week for the lodgement of medicals and penal certificates for an application that was submitted in mid-March.

Best regards.

I quote from an email to me from a Manager at the ASPC earlier today:

"It's on the cards right now to start clearing the backlog. We are just trying to put many, many, many additional people in place as of next week to start on this task."

Expect a bundle of file references to come through in the next two to four weeks as the backlog is cleared.

Processing times for skilled visa applications ex-UK are about 4 months in my experience, particularly if you submit police clearance certificates and arrange medical examinations as soon as you receive a file reference.

Also, don't forget that police certificates can be scanned and emailed to the ASPC these days. They must be colour scans, or certified copies if b&w.

Hope this helps.
