Taking your own car to OZ?

Hi guys,

Has anyone, either already in Oz or on their way, taking their own car over? If so could someone give us some advice as to whether or not its worth it and if its more hassle or not to do so?

OH just had to get another job and now needs a car but not sure if its worth buying a decent one now and taking it with us or just buying one to get him by?

All advice will be gratefully appreciated pleeeessee - he's driving me (pardon the pun) mad  wanting to buy all the one's he wants - and we're leaving!!!!! MEN!!! (present company excepted though gentlemen!!)

Nicki

Steve sums it up really it works out too expensive over all and if you havnt owned the vehicle 12mth you get extra taxed on it ,,easier to sell up and buy here.

Just buy an old banger, and then get rid before you go,thats what we would do.

Hi
I looked into bringing my car over with me last year as it was only 2 1/2 years old but the cost was prohibitive! Not only do you have to pay for shipping but once it arrives in Oz it has to be specially fumigated and cleaned to get it through customs. I reluctantly came to the decision that I just couldn't justify the expense and had to part with my car.....sniff sniff!!!!

3 years ago i brought 2 cars over and i promise you that it was one of the biggest mistakes that i have ever made. Till your OH to go into the back yard dig a fair size hole and fill it with money then cover it over and forget where the hole is this will have the same result and after you move the new owners will love you if they find it.
STEVE
