      Hello Mrs. Bear

Pretty sure you do need police checks for Student Visa, but as we can't apply for ours until Feb 2008 can't say for deffo. Have a look at www.immi.gov.au, under International Student bit, it may say there?

My OH and my 17yo daughter going out on Student Visas next July, me going along for the laff!! My daughter doing Diploma in Children's Services and hubby doing Motor Mechanics.

      Cheers,
      Rachel :spinny:

      HI,
My husband is starting a bricklaying course in July and me and our 3 children are going over on this. We did get police checks done for Paul as he is now 41 and when he was alot younger he had few minor convictions but because they were so long ago and he hasn't done anything wrong for years they were fine. I think they are looking to see if you are a reacurring offender. Get your own police check done so you can see what has been reported on there and you can let your agent know if it will affect anything. To get a police check just go to the police station with ID and ask for a form which is really simple that you can fill in there and then and they will send it in the post to you, i am sure it only took a couple of weeks and cost £15.00.

Hope this helps ..... Good luck.

      Yvonne

      Hi Boobear,

Paul has been in that sort of work before, he is now a corgi gas man but hasn't got enough years experience for PR. He has done a bit of brickwork before but not alot. It seems that all sorts go on the courses, some with lots and others with no experience. Don't worry, you may be like a duck to water!!!!
I intend to keep posting on PIO so we might meet up and we can give you advice on things one we are there.

      Yvonne
