Brother in Law

My brother in law spoke to hubby last night - thinking of coming to Aus but has no skills. He's ran his own business taking disabled children to schools. His wife works for civil service.

Because hubby and I both had skills it was a pretty simple option of 136 visa, so I don't know much about other visas and their pro's and cons and any associated risks. My hubby suggested a work visa but sister-in-law doesn't want to risk everything.

Their looking to us for advice - but I don't know what options to suggest - so help from my PIO family would be greatly appreciated

Ali

What does she [brother in law's wife] do in the civil service?

Hi Ali,

We have no skills (doh) although my trade as a hotel manager is on the SOL I dont have a degree to back it up so 12 years experience was not enough. We are going on the 457 visa as this was the only possible avenue for us. Obviously it is a risk 4 year visa and no guarentee of staying, but if its the only way then its a risk we were willing to take.

One of the agents will probably be able to give you the best advice, but it could be worth them looking to companies in oz to gain a sponsorship or maybe you could ask around to see if companies would sponsor this sort of work in.........like Lynne has been doing. I am not familiar on any other visa types. Hope you get sorted

I believe that the CSA is the UK Child Support Agency. Its function is/was to get money off absent fathers and to force them to support their children. Needless to say it proved to be totally ineffective and I heard they were planning to scrap it but I do not know whether it has yet been shut down. It is NOT the fault of the staff. It was the fault of totally toothless legislation.

Cheers

Gill

thanks guys,

Will suggest the 457 visa to look at and that they get some advice from an agent. If they're really not sure I guess they could rent their house out just in case. We've suggested they come for a holiday as it may not be what they want or expect

Thanks Gill. I've heard for the CSA before, yes.

What I was actually after was what exactly did she do at the CSA? "Office" isn't very descriptive :( Anyway...

Thanks for your replies, they've decided to contact an agent to advise them (best bet probably),
