de facto visa

Hi,

There don't seem to be many posts on de-facto/ spouse visas! Does anyone have any time lines or info on this? We didn't use an agent and although I researched everything as best I could I'm still desperate to know how quickly it will go through.

Put in Application: 12th April
Request for medicals and police check 26th April

We were hoping to front load but couldn't time it right! Medicals were done on the 19th April though so they should have them soon, and although we included the police check, it was six months old and they've asked for a new one! (Partner took so long filling out his forms!)

Any ideas how much longer the wait will be?

Eva

:)

Hi Eva,
My timescale was rather quick, i applied for a spouse visa onshore (in oz) and lodged my application at my interview with a dima officer in sydney, the officer told me that she requested a updated stat dec from my ex husband (as one of my daughters came with me) and i had to then contact my ex and get this done, he actually done this very quick for me and it was sent to the dima officer in sydney,

lodged application and interview September 28th 06
temp visa granted October 13th 06
hopefully permanent residency will be granted for me in September 08 which i have to supply info that me & hubby are still in a serious and ongoing relationship (hubby is a aussie citizen)feel free to ask me any questions
good luck

Thanks! I know its the quicker of the partner visas to be processed. We decided to apply for the visa off-shore as my partner is a bit of a pessimist and doesn't want to get his hopes up about it all by moving first... On the other hand, I really want to go home!

Hope the wait isn't too much longer!
Eva

Our daughter's de facto visa was applied for in October '06 and was granted in March '07.
However, the delay was only because she was pregnant and couldn't complete her medical, as show was unable to have any X-rays. Once she had given birth and the X-rays were taken, the application was dealt with in a matter of weeks.
Good luck, I'm sure you will be home soon.

Eric.

Please note *

* "she was unable to have X-rays"...........not "show"
I'm always saying check before I post...........................this time I didn't.

Hi Eva
I came out to Oz on a spouse visa last year which was applied for in London and it all went through very smoothly so good luck with it all. Once you've had your meds, police checks, etc you should get a response fairly quickly
