      Medicals

      Hi All,
I have just had our medicals sent to Oz by the examining doc, does anyone know if this mean that they are over with if the doc who done the medicals has not asked for further info?? or can we still be asked for further info after they have arrived in Oz??

Probably should have asked this while having the medicals but a 1 hr wait and 2 screaming kids kinda made me forget.

      Cheers

      Ian

I am pretty sure that LCU (where your medicals go to be examined) can still ask for more info if needed of which your case officer will let you know. Once they have n
been completed and finalized by LCU they then get sent to your case officer for examination of which they then make there final decision along with your other papers and info.

Yes they get sent to LCU and they can ask for more infor - they may be assessed by the the commenwealth Dr - this happened to my friends hubby (extensive knee surgery), they didn't ask for more ino - and their visa was granted.

Thanks for the info guys,I guess we should expect to be asked for more info as I see the VOD has been asked for docs report for PND which my wife has also had and I am carrying a few too many pounds.Just need to keep the fingers crossed and prepare for the wait.Thank you again.

      Cheers

      Hi all

The Medical Officer of the Commonwealth of Australia (MOC) insisted on a report from a geriatrician about my then 85 year old Mamma. I went into a flat spin and screamed at the Panel Doctor and Mum's GP. Neither had even mentioned the word "geriatrician" despite both of them having been closely involved before I even submitted Mum's application.

Both them said, "This is clinical nonsense. If either of us felt that your mother needed help from a consultant geriatrician, do you seriously imagine that we would have been so utterly irresponsible as to conceal that from Mum or from you? The MOC is demanding nothing but a stupid and unnecessary waste of money and an equal waste of medical time. However, it is cheaper and quickerjust to comply with the demand than to try to argue the toss."

Effectively, two doctors told me, "The MOC is a prize prat. Waste the money. Waste the doctor's time too. Tell the geriatrician that you are sorry for wasting his time but explain that it isn't your fault."

      Cheers

      Ian,

If you supplied information about your wifes PND then this may be sufficient., If she was only treated by her GP they may ask her to see a psychiatrist. If they do tell her not to worry this will be routine.

      Hi there
Experiences on this seem to differ. I had to get a consultants report because I am still on a low dose of meds after my PND. I am due to be off them in the next few weeks but I still had to get a report.

Thinking about it rationally (which I can only do on certain days depending how stressed I am about the whole thing) There is no way you can be rejected for having PND. The vast majority of mums I know have it in one form or another.
My consultant just had to say whether I have a serious underlying problem which is going to mean I will need lots of care in the future (which I don't).

As for the few extra pounds, well friends call me the Vicar Of Dibley for a reason!!!! well for several reasons actually. As long as you aren't showing any other related complications i.e high BP or diabetes etc I wouldn't worry. Remember we are built for comfort not for speed!

I know that the Docs in Oz can ask for more info but I am sure your doctor would have flagged it! Mine certainly did!!!
Please don't worry. All will be well!

Apparently Claire you have to declare everything otherwise if you dont and they find out then it could jepordise you application, i had to mention i had epilepsy when i was 7 for 2 years but fine now and had to get more info on the from my own doc just to prove i was fine, i had to declare all my operations i have had including my hysterectomy but they didnt need any info on that, and my Crohnes disease when i was 17 and also anti depressants i was on for a couple of years prior to hysterectomy and depressants were due to the bad time of the month 24/7 non stop got me down but when he got all extra info it was fine.

Try not to worry but do declare everything i say.
