hi to all, please could some one put me on the right track, i have filled in the skilleed assessment (Form B) however question 11a requires a verification certificate sending to the ANMC, i have rung the NMC and they are saying i need a form from the ANMC which i have to get and send to the NMC for them to fill in and send direct to the ANMC. is this correct.
I can't remember getting a form but it was in 2005 and may have changed. I just rang the nmc and paid by credit card - they sent the verification directly to anmc.
One thing to remember is that unlike the nmc, the anmc doesn't hold registration, each state holds their own and you have to apply for a licence to practise in the state you want to work. The ANMC will send your file to whichever board you want - more money I'm afraid

The NMC will send you an application form, try ringing them again.
It instructs the NMC to release your verifications to Australia. You can put up to 5 registration authorities on this form for 34 pounds.
You will need verifications to go to the state you wish to practice in as well as ANMC.
Ive just applied for STNI from victoria government, has anyone else had experience doing this?? There are so many skilled visa options that im so confused. We have decided to settle in Melbourne so seemed like an easy option at the time,......... but the more I read the more I get confused........ (is it just me maybe)?!!
Is anyone there nursing in melbourne......... we'r thinking Geelong or Mornington, any ideas/comments/HELP would be much appreciated.
Hi,
I am going to be nursing in NSW, I have not registered in the state yet as you can do that when you arrive in a day...apparently!! If you apply for the Independent skilled Visa, sub class BN 136 it means you have all the rights of an Australian as soon as you arrive. This type of visa allows you to stay in Australia indefinately. Nurses and Midwives can get it pretty easily(well I did) . The other way of doing it is getting a sponsored visa which is pretty easy as well but means you are tied to the hospital that sponsors you. As I am going to be working straight away I wanted the freedom to choose which hospital I will work in.
I hope this helps a bit!

thankyou for helping, i rang the NMC again, this time i spoke to someone who new what i wanted, my friend suggested that last time i probably spoke to the YTS (showing our ages)
my pack is now winging its way to me
We are planning on moving to melbourne and i too am a nurse. Although we wont be applying for our visas for another 17 months (Sept 08) as im currently in the navy and have to finish my return of service. Have you been to mebourne before? We went last year and are planning on going again this year or early in the new year.
I know what you mean about the whole process seeming confusing, i reckon if i read loads on here in the next 17 months i should be ok, dont really want to go through an agent as its another added cost.
What field are you in? Im in surgey, upper GI and urology - strange mix i know and doesnt work!
So are you nursing in the Navy then?? I was never a surgical nurse, but yeah does sound like a strange mix!!! I worked in CCU for a few years..... went travelling, then returned to the UK and landed a community job.......... monday - friday 9 till 5pm!!! So thats what ive been doing since. I really love it and am hoping to do the same in Geelong or thereabouts!!!
So are you gona set the ball rolling just now then with immigration?? Cos i know when we came to NZ we had 1 year to come here before our visas expired!! We applied for nz residency in feb and were here by june the same year. Im hoping its quick like that with OZ!! haha, maybe we'll be there when u come on holiday in the new year (its good to dream lol)
