ex problems!! HELP PLZ!!

Hi just wondered if any one has xperience of getting a child of a previous marriage out of the country?? My ex who hasn,t seen mu daughter since she was 2 & she's now 13 seems to gonna be awkward about signing a stat dec letter for her to leave. What happens if I go thro' the court? How long does that procedure take & do you know if its costly?? Thanks for any info but i'm worried that we may get so far down the line an hit a brick wall!!

We asked my ex to sign a stat dec and he said he wouldnt, and then said he was just being awkward....We telephoned the local court and told them our dilemma, They sent us out some forms to fill in, and had to pay 170 quid for a hearing..We are not using a solicitor..Our first court hearing was 26th Feb, and was adjourned because again my ex was being awkward and told the court he never received the court papers until the last minute so had no time to prepare..The judge has relisted the hearing and asked us to get as much information as we could so he could see that our son would have a better quality of life in Australia.. IE: School acceptance letters, schools in general in the area we will be moving too, A copy of Pauls job offer and the situation on our housing once there.
We have already been in touch with a school for our son, who have said they will accept him once in Australia, so that was pretty easy...We have a case Officer and he is now just waiting on the outcome of the hearing to finalise our visa..
WE GO BACK TO COURT TOMORROW !!!!! It has been one of the longest months of our life but fingers crossed it will all go well....I would say dont leave it till the last minute as it could take a couple of months to sort it..But all said and done 170quid aint bad
Good luck hun

Hi Jo N Paul
I just wanted you to know that we will all be thinking of you tomorrow.
Actually I'm sitting on my prayer mat as we speak!!!

Its a really good reminder of all the things people have to endure to give children a better life. I really hope all goes well for you all.

As the saying goes.

There is no such thing as a perfect person. Just a person with perfect intentions

Thank you for all the time and encouragemnt you give to us on this forum when you too have your own mountains to climb.

Michele don't worry , I am sure that the people who matter will see that you are doing the best for your child.

Lots luv and Hugz

Jo,

Good luck for tomorrow, but it amazes me that it has to go to court because your son has never even met your ex, another shining example of our law system in this country!!!

That is so crazy that you have to go through that in those circumstances - where the hell is the common sense in the world!! Certainly not with the people who make the rules!

Hope it all goes well x

it has been 2 years of hard work and at times we have almost given up but we want this too much to let anything get to us....

Hi VOD...Thanx so much for the prayers, i aint getting down on my knees tho, I would never get up again Although having said that I will probably be licking the judges boots tomorrow lol...
Its been a bit of a slog, but hey good things never come easy...
