Red face First Step please

Me and my wife want to emigrate to Perth but weve read so much that we still dont know what is the first step to take. She is a RGN Nurse with a continous 15yrs work record, and i work offshore as a ROV pilot. We have four kids of 12, 10, 7 and 3. I would like you to tell us what is the very first step we have to take is it medicals or visas skills assesments or what! please help were confused on what to do.
Step by step guide (idiots Guide ) would be great. and how long do you think it would take before we actually take off for a better life.

Probably been ask this so many times and i appoligise for the same old thread.

Andy and Angela.

Andy and Angela.
you could always go through a nursing agency. They would help you secure a job as an Rn and also prove to be a valuable source when filling in the endless forms. I came over as an RN with a nursing agency. After 4 months my "job" bought me out and took me on full time. 2 years later I am still here and have permanent residency! It does work!!!!

Question Thanks guys

Thanks guys this site really is helpful and for all your advice which is first class. So the first thing is skills assessment! So we wish to move to Perth so i guess they would be the relevant authority is that correct!. Obviously going on the wifes profession! We have printed off the form 1121i SOL. Then applying for 6 visa's !!! (one for each and every one of us) Then medicals later on (brother in law is a doctor nice and cheap). Just wondering if its worth going down the Agency route been looking at GoMatilda that people have used on here. They seem to have a decent write up on the forums. Are they expensive compared to trying it on your own? Would they have accomadation ready for the family on arrival and would they sort out the delivery and payment of our container with our belonings from the uk to Australia (to the house)?
Remember we would have no vehicle to move around in (gonna sell prior to moving) so we would need it sorting out by someone else who knows what to do.
sorry for the lots of quirky questions but i would think it is straight forward from this side its when you land and come off the plane thats when you think oh oh! gonna have to get taxis every where, where do i go and are we completely alone now in this!

AAHHH! so much to think about. I must chill more.

Hi JoHatts

Hi Johatts youve replied to our post before so thankyou for all your help my wife Angela is keen to hear about you as your in here profession. She has decided to go on a independant visa 136 so she can move around if she dosnt like where she is. She is into palative care and currently works in a hospice and is also a part time marie curie nurse.
I dont know what pressure the nurses are under there but she came out of the hospitals here due to the demanding pressure put on them and the 60 - 70 hours they where asking of her.
Anyway nice to hear and read your threads.

Hi Andy

Ho hum!

For the minute, I think you should take a step back from this stuff. You say you want to move to Perth. No worries. Your wife's occupation is in such demand that she would be able to get a job anywhere in Oz.

If she contacts the hospitals and nursing agencies in Oz, Angela would be offered jobs galore for sure. The usual drill with them is that they offer a temporary 457 visa to start with because that is quick, easy and relatively cheap. It gets the nurse into Australia quickly, which is the aim of the game.

The hospitals are reputable. If both sides are happy, converting to an ENS visa is relatively straightforward and easy but I think it involves a commitment to staying with the sponsoring employer for a set period (possibly 2 years though I am not sure of the exact details.)

However, a lot of nurses would be able to get the points needed for a Skilled Independent subclass 136 visa from the outset and then there would be no tie to any employer, ever, other than by mutual agreement. It would be processed relatively quickly because it is on the MODL. You could be looking at moving to Oz in around a year's time on this visa. With the 457 and the promise of ENS, you could be looking at moving in less than 6 months.

If you are after speed then don't haggle about the price. Just Instruct Go Matilda to get on with it for you because having one of their people telling you exactly what to produce and where it has to be sent would save you MONTHS of utterly head-banging further research.

No, Go Matilda do not offer initial accommodation, airport transfers or car hire as far as I know. This is help that you can easily hire from elsewhere however. www.pomsinperth.com.au and www.emigreat.com.au both offer these practical facilities, I believe, and I think there is a third one called Dolphin Migration Services or similar (definitely Dolphin something and definitely in Perth.)

In the short term, I would suggest that you start a new thread called "Need to Contact Ali - Please Help." Ali is one of our Mods, is a nurse and has recently moved to Perth on a skilled 136 visa. She is moving house at the mo. It will be a while before she can get internet access to the forum from her new home but she can download her private e-mails at work. However, lots of people on here have her e-mail address and I am sure that they would be willing to give you their own e-mail address and to forward an e-mail from you to Ali, who I feel sure would reply.

See what Ali says, I would suggest.

Best wishes

Gill

PS - Panel Doctors

Hi again, Andy

I forgoit to mention that your doctor bro-in-law can't do your Meds unless he is one of the Panel Doctors for Oz Immi. Even if he is a Panel Doctor, he might say that he would prefer it if you get another PD to do your meds.

The list of PDs in the UK can be downloaded from the link below. Forms 26 & 160 are the two forms you need. You will find them below the list of PDs.

Cheers

Gill
