Applying for Visa

Hi All

Myself and my partner are thinking of applying to come out along with our daughter.

Just wondered how long it took to get visa through and if there is a timescale for moving once it is through?? Thats our worry because we can't put the house up until we get confirmation and then its how soon we'd have to make the move??

Thanks
Rach

Hi Rach and welcome to Poms in Oz

How long the process takes depends on loads of different factors, honey. One of them is putting the skills assessment together, which can take months depending on the person's occupation and career-history.

Another factor is whether the skill is on the MODL, because visas get processed faster if the skill is on the MODL.

A third factor is which visa yo choose.

Can you tell us a little more about your situation, and have you looked at the immi website as yet? If not, you need to try to get to grips with eee.immi/gov.au but I warn you that it is headbanging stuff!

Cheers

Gill

Cost for visa

Hi Gill

Thanks for your reply. I'll take a look on the website, my partner is a tiler so hoping that's something they're looking for!

Just one thing though, I'm a bit worried about the cost for applying, we just saw someones message earlier saying an installment of $29,330 or something. Does that sound right? We didn't realise it was that much?!?

Thanks Rach

Hi

Costs, assuming your partner can get recognised in his trade, are A$300 for the Trade Recognition application and A$1,990 for the visa application. Medicals are also an expense and 10 quid each for a UK police clearance.

Those other large figures relate to parents joining their children in Australia.

Regards

Hiya the cost depends on what type of visa you want.We took about 14 months getting a 136 independent skills visa we were granted the visa on the 8th of jan and we have activate the visa by 28 of october this year.We are hoping to move over in early August, just gotta sell the house ,let the daughter finish her exams and we are off.Hope you go well with everything and use this site to the fullest they are all very helpful and friendly.

Thanks, hope everything goes well.

The site is great, it helps to speak to 'normal' people about it who are experiencing the issue's!
