iam 6'3" tall and weigh give or take 20 stone .....yes i am a bit tubby but i am fit i spend most of my day lugging scaffold around and moving items of plant machinery about....... when i had a medical not long back for some insurance thing,i had to do the "blow into the gauge" test i managed to get the slider scale thing right to the end,nurse had never seen it beofre,so i had to do it again ............. its not weight they look at,its general health and fitness ..........

Thanks for the positive words. You're right - I suppose as long as you're fit and well they may realise that you're not going to be a drain on their resources. Fingers crossed to you too, and everyone else just waiting.

i had this worry too.
Providing you don't have other health issues eg; heart problems,high blood pressure or arthritisyou should be ok. They are looking for thinks that would drain health care resurses.

Hi all
We've got our meds tomorrow and I'm a nervous wreck!!

I am obese (but got a kind heart ) due to underactive thyroid which is under control but will be on meds for life!

Can touch my toes (just tried it and can do it! ) - blood pressure OK, except when I'm going for a life changing medical! - Got several stomachs after several children!!! so even the best underwear is going to make the staff feel like I need a donation for my undies draw!!

Desperately don't want to fail this and let the family down - any reassurance welcome!

I am sure you will be fine, i am positive that they only make weight a real issue when it hides any underlying problems. As yours has been diagnosed, and is already recieving treatment, I cant see it being a problem.

Anyway they cant not let someone in JUST because they are obese.......that would be size-ist wouldnt it....they wouldnt refuse someone because of their skin colour or their sex....would they,

stop worrying or you will more likely fail on high blood pressure!!!

The doctor had to take my blood pressure twice, I'm sure it was because I was so nervous! 2nd time it was fine. You do worry whilst you're having it done after all it's not always plain sailing as some will testify, but you're so relieved when it's over.

Good luck tmoz, I'm sure you'll be fine. At least you've got a real medical excuse, where as I just cant resist chocolate
I know this want make you less worried but by tomorrow it'll be all over n you can get on here n tell us all about it

BTW I only had to take top off not bra or jeans so wasnt to bad really except you way more with clothes on of cause but every doctors different.

I can't believe the response.
Thank you all so much for your kind messages of support. It is so much appreciated.

Just to fill you all in on a bit of background. It was my mum and dad in law who have always encouraged us to move. They paid for us all to go on a fact finding tour of OZ and NZ two years ago. We could never have afforded to go without thier help. We fell in love with OZ particularly Adelaide which we loved.

Mum fell ill just after we got back and died four weeks ago It was her constant wish that we make it out to OZ, so as you can imagine, I really don't want to scew up the medical and let her down.
