Hi Phil
You Can Do Both Before Its Called Front Loading Them, But When You Do Get Your Visa It Starts From The Time You Got Your Med/pc Back So The Time You Have To Go Can Be Sooner Than You What Hope This Makes Sence

You can front load police checks and medicals. This can save a few weeks on the process or may be a couple of months. The problem with doing this as David says is that when your visa is granted it is from the date of the medical or police check (whichever has the earliest date). You have 12 months from that date (not when the visa is granted) to validate your visa, which is ok if you've sold up and just ready to go, but can cause a problem if it then leaves you only a few months to validate your visa.

If you want to front load, I would suggest that you anticipate when your CO may request them and book them then.

Additionally the checks and medicals only last 12 months, whilst the pc is only a tenner, the medicals run into hundreds if you're a family and would be expensive to re -do

Hope this makes sense, I'm sure others can add a bit more

Ali

medicals valid for 12 months unless a TB Undertaing is required, then validity is reduced to 6 months.

The only thing I can think of relating to the 3 months would be that the Chest X-ray and pathology should be done within 3 months of having the medical.
