hi, documents can be certified by teachers, policemen, majestrates, justices of the peace, doctors, dentists, solicitors to name but a few. If you look on immi website it will give you a more detailed list, just be aware that doctors, dentists and solicitors will charge for this, so if you have a friend who is one of the above it is worth speaking to them first.

Hi there,
When we enquired via our Immigration agent we were advised that it could only be JoP's, and solicitors who could certify documents - perhaps we were ill-advised though! I am a teacher and I asked if a headteacher could sign and was told this wasn't possible. Our documents had an official stamp embossed onto them.

We assumed the same but didnt use an agent, or brother in law was told it could only be solicitors or J O P's by his agent :)

We got a solicitor to do ours but be careful as it can cost a fortune if they charge £5 a document. It soon mounts up. Also Justice of the peace can do it. As far as I am aware, teachers, policemen, doctors and dentists can't do it.

My husband wreckons that if you phone the majistrates courts they have a certain day where you can go in and have documents certified and they only charge a small fee. Not sure if it is true but it is worth a try.
